My daughter wanted to make a card for Mother's Day. As she is three her writing skills are not quite there yet. Dad (me) tried to help but she did not like how I wrote (admittedly it is not that much better than hers). Eventually she went to my wife in tears asking for her help writing out the Mother's Day card. I know my wife did not mind but it still hurts.

I can see how it would hurt, I'm sure that she didn't mean to hurt you though.

I'm guessing that she got really stressed about getting the card right and didn't think about how your feelings could get hurt, at three there is still a lot of learning regarding social interaction to be done.

I hope you feel better soon.

I'm sorry. Ouch.

Why don't you just tell her "Dad doesn't write well, it's very difficult so I will type it for you."

Use your computer, print it out, cut it out and paste it on the next card.

Make one now so she can see what she can expect for next time since she is too young to put it all together in the future.
If you have color ink, print it in her favorite color.

Remember: some people can't write at all!

Good luck!

I can see how that would stress you out. My writing isn't that great, either.

Thanks for the support and suggestions. I tried telling her that Daddy does not write well but she is still at the age where grown-ups can do anything, you just have to ask the right way or enough times. However the printed page may work well. I will try that out.
