When I was out and about, I wore what became known as my "uniform": dark grey or black sportscoat (three buttons, and NOT a freaking blazer, thank you very much), slightly lighter grey (if worn with black) or black (if worn with grey) dress trousers (with cuffs, thank you very much indeed). Cap-toed walking shoes - always black.

White oxford shirt, most of the time, though I'd mix it up sometimes and wear an arrow or tab collar shirt, depending on the tie.

Generally wore a red tie, although sometimes a green or blue one (go to Brooks Brothers or, if there's one by you, a Nordstrom's or Neiman-Marcus, they can help you with the tie - the tie is crucial!). For the pocket square, always white - starched and pressed linen in the warmer months, silk in the cooler weather.

This outfit opened doors that would have been slammed in my face otherwise.

I would wear clean clothes, making sure they fit.

I have no idea what to wear.

I work at a restaurant and I often see men on dates so I will just see what they wear.

They tend to wear chino-type pants--Dockers-type pants, a button-down or polo shirt, and maybe a suit jacket.

Some people dress more casually, though.

Twice on my dating adventures I put on a dress shirt and shoes. Those were my far my two most successful dates. My brother once told me I would have a girlfriend in hours if I wore my suit in public and years later when I tested his theory he wasn't far off! It sucks having no fashion sense and wearing a uniform day in day out: I generally had no idea how to dress properly.

I like to wear nice stuff, but I don't like, wear a suit or anything on a date. Typically I'd wear a nice pair of jeans with an Aeropostale polo t-shirt. I simply LOVE polos, they're a great way to look nice without all the extra work of putting on a suit. Oh, and I can't forget the cologne, always have to smell nice on my dates.

I'm a woman (though an androgynous one), so I hope you all don't jump at me for saying... but when I see a man in a blazer, dress shirt, dress shoes, and clean well-fitted jeans/trousers I get a little aroused. But then who knows... maybe another woman enjoys the t-shirt and jeans look.

I just got a date with an attractive co-worker . I'm going to wear my pink shirt which says Brony And Proud. You think this will impress my date?
