Just as an example,
is there a situation where pajamas and socks with flip-flops would be your first choice?
Would the pajamas having a Mario print change your answer?

Clothing appropriate to the occasion, or slightly higher in "class" - a button-down shirt and slacks to a pool party, for instance.

What bozo did this? I mean, if it was a costume party or a mixed-group sleepover, okay, but a one-on-one date?

:lmao:

On the dating site I go to, there was a discussion of this.

Women often complained about guys wearing stained clothes to dates, and jandals.

Just if anyone wants a heads up.

On a date, I wear the same thing I always wear: Whatever I feel like wearing. This usually consists of a T-Shirt and shorts, or if it's winter then I wear a sweater and jeans. Comfortable clothes...that's my fashion sense. I would hope she would do the same. I'm not a big fan of button down shirts, or dresses and heels and such. It depends on the occasion, but usually I'm not going to any formal events.

Wutza "jandal"? - I've heard of "Mandals" though.

Anyway, I'm not sure what the OP was getting at, but this is typical "hot date" attire for me:

Not really, but that would be hilarious. I wear the same thing I always wear: a solid-colored t-shirt or long-sleeved shirt (depending on the season) and jeans.

I've never been on a date, but if I did, I imagine I'd probably wear...

baggy olive-green cargo shorts, bright orange sleeveless shirt, a loose unbuttoned collar shirt over that, a checkered bandanna tied like a headband, with a checkered baseball cap over that, puffy skate shoes over striped socks, a rubber-band at the end of my braided beard, and my small circular glasses.

... this is probably why I've never been on a date.

Anything Iḿ comfortable with and doesnt look too bad. Having said that if the date is outside I wouldnt suggest the pajamas.

I usually wear a t-shirt I really like/one of the few shirts Im comfortable with and some jeans.

I don't understand why people care. As long as the dude don't smell, I'm good.

I would either wear a t-shirt or an actual shirt, but the last one only if it's rather formal. Pajamas and flip-flops are only appropriate when...

Well, actually, they're just not appropriate.

It would depend on the date's place too.

If it's a casual place, then casual clothes like shirt and jeans.

If it's at some fancy restaurant, then I would wear more formal clothes.

This has always been a problem for me. When I was younger, I would typically overdress (hoodwinked by a lot of old b&w movies I think) and wear a jacket (the same jacket, mind you) and button down shirt. I think that freaked out my dates a lot, like I was making this first date out to be bigger than it was. Which I see now as point of issue.

Now I dress more casually as my first dates are typically in casual locales like coffee shops -- a polo shirt and jeans with black shoes, or the 'Sheldon' look from BBT with a 'hip' T-shirt over long sleeves (my Rastafari Chewbacca is rather popular).

Now ask me what I wear on second dates....that I can't help you with... haha ;) At least not yet, but I'm working on it. It's a process, really.

Grisha, that's pretty sweet, I must say. I like the style. It looks sort of hipsterish without the obvious pretention of it. Maybe I'm wrong.../shrug.
