Thank you Henbane! Well you don't have to be officially diagnosed, I mean part of the diversity of the autism community is that a lot of people aren't diagnosed and it might be helpful for people to see one aspect of the reason why this is the case. So if you care to participate your participation would be much appreciated, and if you don't care to your decision would be much respected!

Very interesting concept...one that has not been done before and would be a very valuable resource. I would be up to make a contribution.

My diagnoses - anxiety disorder, depression and traits of obsessive-compulsive disorder (all in remission).

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

Lovely! I will post some Paint sketches/diagrams giving an idea for the layout of the book tomorrow and talk to people more in-depth about what they'd like their contribution to be.

I'll have to think of something to write about or display in some art form.
I'd like it to be something that is distinctly me, like how I'm a band photographer and how before I was diagnosed I used to make friends with band members to make up for the lack of friends in my town, or how sci-fi has made me understand empathy, or how art has been my special interest for life and I could show some autism issues through it.

Something like that. I'll give it some further thought.

Well I'm a little behind in this. I haven't forgotten about it but am... thinking. The ideas for pieces sound really great.

Sounds interesting to me... if we all write from a slightly different angle it could be very special and informative... I'm sure I could come up with something interesting to contribute.

Just a few constructive comments/thoughts from someone with a little experience of being published and publishing.

Do some market research and see if anything similar exists. I suspect it will, not necessarily with an AS/ Autism theme. When you find something similar look at its strengths and weaknesses. That can be really useful when designing your own publication.

Forget your expectation of profit. It is unlikely to happen.

Have you any ideas about how it would be published? The main options are to find a publisher and the second is to self publish and here the print on demand option might be the best option.

There is loads of advice online about finding a publisher, but it looks like it takes a lot of hard work and a big element of luck.
Print on demand costs you nothing to produce the book, but it will have a higher unit cost for each book and it does need someone to put it together (therefore there is a time cost). The print on demand printers do provide templates to work with which makes it all a lot easier.

Collecting contributions and presenting them in a book needs someone to act at an editor. It probably also needs a more defined set of rules/boundaries/deadlines. Important for any contributions but more so for those of us with AS.

Printing in black and white is still a lot cheaper that colour. This would therefore favour text rather than a mixture of text and artwork.

And finally don't forget that you need to publicize and market a book so that people know about its existence.

Hopefully this wont put you off. In theory it could be an interesting project and I wish you the best of luck.

I'd be interested in contributing something.

I think this will be a challege to get everything together and organised, it could also prove costly.
I do really like the idea. Many individuals contributing should make it very intresting and show people that we all different.
