In history, many great leaders successfully removed oppressors through peace. Ghandi was one.

Oh Really? Have you heard of Kashmir? Also 4 million people were killed in the processes of dividing India into two countries. Ghandi was a supercalloused fragile mystic plagued with halitosis. He also advised the Jews to bare their throats to the Nazis. As far as I am concerned he should cook in the same furnace as Mother Terrisa for the next billion years.

Well to be honest I know almost nothing about Ghandi besides a movie I watched. I probably also read a paragraph or two about him on wikipedia over the years.

Is it really that bad? Did he really do all those things? I guess there aren't any real heroes in history. Thats very sad.

very depressing..

You are a good natured person and probably young. Learn so history. The world is not a pretty place and it never has been. It is a pretty rough neighborhood in which to bring up children.

As far halitosis is concerned - Gandhi did drink his own urine.

And just because Gandhi was wrong, and in some instances - terribly wrong - doesn't negate the good he had accomplished.

Of course not. We just have to be tough.

Some people reach adulthood and are amused to find out adults don't know as much as they thought. Other people reach adulthood and are pleased they too, now know everything.

Some people reach adulthood and find it terrifying, desperately wishing to be children again. Some people even join various fetish groups that will allow them to achieve that state, at least temporarily.

I for one am as befuddled as I had been as a kid. I just have more stuff crammed into my head.

To be sure, I could get away better with being so befuddled, but I'd miss my wife and daughter too much.

Forgive my ignorance, but I can't find the meaning of paraphilic.
I'd prefer to know what that word means before I answer your question.

It means people who get very turned on by being treated like children. In this instance, it would be sexual but it doesn't have to be.

What we -should do- is dismantle the Welfare State but that is not going to happen and restore personal and individual responsibility. And if you are charitable then let the charity come from your wallet, not someone else's.
