Only fix is to move your Cursor away from the text field while typing, this happens when your typing and you just barely touch the Scroll Pad. either use a mouse and turn off your touch pad or move the cursor.

what JaeDee said,

usually there is a shortcut using your fn keys or similar, makes it a snap to turn the touchpad on and off.
alternatively you can disable the click on tap feature, that way you would have to press the mouse buttons asociated with the touchpad and then it cant move the cursor by accident.

I had the same problem with my latest laptop. The problem, as mentioned, is due to the mouse touch pad. It sometimes misinterprets accidental touches with the heel of your hand / base of thumb as clicks and moves the text cursor to the mouse position.

As there was no button to turn off the crappy touch pad I had to download some software (synaptics mouse pad) just to disable the touch pad. I've never used the damn thing since; I much prefer a real mouse.

If you look in your mouse settings, there's an option to deactivate the trackpad while typing for this very reason. I suggest you enable that to prevent this from occurring in the future.
