Do you think that the people in these videos seem mentally ill?

Option A
I am autistic and I disagree that the people in these videos seem mentally ill, they appear to be different from a neurotypical person in some regards but based on what I can see there is nothing to suggest a mental illness/it would be unfair to call their neurology a mental illness. They seem different to a neurotypical person but not ill, it is just the variety of life and I can see the benefits.

Option B
I am autistic it seems to me that the people in these videos are mentally ill and are affected by an autistic spectrum disorder

Option C
I am autistic and I have a different opinion to these options which I have written below

Option D
I am not autistic and I disagree that the people in these videos seem mentally ill, they seem to be be different from a neurotypical person in some regards and I can accept that as a valid neurology which does not need to be cured and is an equal to my own, I do not think that the people in these videos have something deeply wrong with them causing their differences, it is just the variety of life and I can see the benefits.

Option E
I am not autistic and I agree that the people in these videos seem mentally ill, they seem to be affected by an autistic spectrum disorder

Option F
I am not autistic and have another opinion to these options and have written it below

Option G
I am autistic, and this exercise proved so complicated that by the time I'd worked through all the possible permutations I'd forgotten what the question was in the first place?

Sorry....... :D

No these people are not mentally ill! Quirky yes but actually I wouldn't mind a relationship similar to that of the first couple, they seem to have worked out a very amicable living arrangement even though it is different to the norm. Personally I cannot presently live with anyone due to my quirks making it difficult for me to be able to deal with the 'norm', however an arrangement like theirs would work very well for me!

Being autistic doesn't automatically make you mentally ill. I think their story is cute  though. Relationships are hard for me too. I don't care about having a relationship anymore, and it's made me happier. I might even stumble upon a "good relationship" just because I'm not necessarily looking for one. If someone wants me bad enough to purse me when I tell them about my AS maybe they'll turn out to be the person that I can be with.

Being autistic still does not imply being mentally ill, no matter how many polls you post asking questions like this...

Why do you keep posting polls like this? I just have to ask. I have only voted on one of these because they are essentially meaningless to me. What is your point? Why in the world would you come on to an autism site and ask whether people with autism are mentally ill?

A cute little boy? No. People who have found a way to live in a relationship without driving themselves crazy? Not mentally ill at all. This is sanity at its best. The other man? I don't know if he's mentally ill or not, and I don't care.

Oops! I am the loser that clicked option B by complete accident!! 8O I totally disagree with option B and hate that I can't go back and fix that. I meant to click A and went to quickly.

These people are autistic. Autism is not a mental illness; therefore, they are not mentally ill.

Autism isn't a Mental Illness. It's a developmental disorder. If you did your research, you'd know that by now. What are you getting at?

I think the OP is confused. They think just because it's called a disorder that it is also a mental illness. It is not. I hope I'm reading into that right.

I don't see being mentally ill as anything so shocking because I've had many: ODD, PDA, anxiety, depression, paranoia, etc. I see personality disorders and chemical imbalances as a mental illness. I'm not sure if I'm correct but that's my terminology.

I liked the couple in the first video. Their relationship and living arrangements seem pretty good to me.

Yeah, me too. I love my ex-hubby very much, but we would get along much better if we had separate houses close together. He likes to collect all kinds of potentially useful stuff that just drives me nuts. Two different flavors of Aspie sometimes clash. And sometimes not.
