Literally when used incorrectly.
No, you did not literally jump out of your skin.

Any abbreviation of a compound word that does not contain at least one letter from each part. E. g. selfie for self-shot, homophobic for "homosexual-phobic". It could be the abbreviation of many other compound words.

Any euphemism.

My ex had a habit of ending many of her sentences with "...if that makes sense."

While it wasn't just me who was subjected to this, I suspect I gave the most creative responses.

Here's more:

'Back in the day" -It sounds much more intelligent when they use, "when I was little' 'during the time I was growing up' 'When X was coming out." 'Back in the day' makes me think of the nonsensical phrase 'Back and the forth.'

"Right in the feels' - I hate this one so much. I'm betting this 'cutesy' phrase is from 4chan, hmmm?

"Don't worry, I'm watching him/her."- Often said by a customer at work, when I mention that allowing their child to dance, stand or jump around in the shopping cart puts the child at risk of serious injury or death (should they happen to fall out.) Given how many children still fall out of carts and die, I doubt 'I'm watching him' is enough.

The noun "autist" meaning "an autistic person" instead of calling them an "autistic".

An autist would be the equivalent of an "artist", or "scientist", or an "illusionist". Someone who is autistic on purpose, and even devotes and dedicates their life to doing autism as a craft!- which no one does!

You have autism whether you want it or not, you dont practice it as a profession. So if you have autism you're "an autistic". Not an "autist".

"On accident."

By accident. The correct phrase is "by accident."

"Take a SELFIE with me!"

"get over it"

'same difference"

"literally" when used incorrectly. "if you ruin that i'm literally going to kill you!! !"
no, you won't.

"autist" or "autism" as an insult.

baby-talk.

any story starting with "back in my day..."

lots of adults tend to talk about their childhood like they grew up cramped with 20 other siblings in a shoddy old cottage in the middle of some god-forsaken frozen forest, with newspaper for insulation and fire as the only source of heat and light (burning wood they chopped themselves) and they either had to trudge 15 kilometers barefoot in the snow, or catch the freight train, wearing ripped old hand-me-downs, to the nearest one room schoolhouse where they were paddled heavily and yelled at, and they grew up with absolutely no help to get where they are today.

some people grew up like this, no doubt, but most of them exaggerate their stories like this to guilt-trip younger generations into not wanting something.

Yeah, but it's so funny when people catch themselves doing it. The best one I've personally heard was:

Quote:
My dad feeds me s**t for lunch - literally!
...
Well... not quite literally.

That and "when I was your age" .( same reason exaggerate in order to guilt trip)

"First world problems" (to add guilt to minor annoyances)

Saying like repeatedly( so stupid!)

Excessive swearing. ( it sounds dumb to me to drop 5 f bombs into a sentence)
