Not me. I was always abnormally big.

I dont have a confirmed diagnosis but i am sure i am an aspie and i'd say no.

Everyones body develops at a different rate it has no relation to being an aspie or a NT.

dont worry about it too much :)

One of the things Tony Attwood mentions in his book is at Aspies tend to look more youthful than their NT counterparts. I don't know if that is in any way related to slower development.

Since it seems like the exact causes of AS are still in debate I think it'd be hard to know for sure. There are various reasons why some people mature more slowly than others, including diet and genetics.

I reached puberty around age eight myself but now in my mid 20s I think my round face might make me look a bit younger. At any rate, even fully matured people's bodies vary a lot. At age 24 my boyfriend is very skinny, with arms thinner than mine and it's mainly genetic. Anyway, I second the comments on not worrying about what your body looks like. :)

If you mean puberty, then yes I was late. Probably has no connection through, I also did look much younger than my age.

I think it's as varied as is it with anyone else, it's true that an aspie's emotional development in puberty may be a lot slower. Physically I was quite early and reached adult size/average adult weight at about 15.

I don't think there is any relation to physical development, except maybe in Rett's Syndrome Autism/Asperger's. I do think that there might be a link in age appearance, though, as so many here have mentioned that they look younger than their years. This applies to me also, except now that I am in my early 50s, and have suffered from insufficient sleep for decades, my appearance is finally catching up to my calendar age, but I think I still do look a little younger, but very tired.

In my case it might be partly genetic, too, as I have some relatives on both sides who tend to look less old than they are. My mother looked a lot older by the time she died, but she smoked for over 50 years, and that ages people a lot.

I'd say yes, possibly, it'd be case by case obviously. For me, I'm 21 and only now am starting to get a lot of chest hair, and as far as facial hair and all that, I was later, too. I also grew 2 inches at 17 years old. I'm DXed NVLD, and the people diagnosing me literally said "almost but not quite" for Aspergers, and now most psychs I talk to agree with Aspergers as a diagnosis, so take that for what you want.

I know one guy, who, he hasn't outright told me he's an Aspie, but, 171 IQ, photographic memory, he'd get tests in school and write the exact page number the question was, and where on the page it was. He displays some traits, but he's also in his 50s now. Anyway, though, he graduated highschool, 17, at 120 pounds, and 5'2, he grew 10 inches and doubled his weight by the time of his 5 year class reunion, mind you, during that time he also started powerlifting, so I don't know if the powerlifting made him make extra growth hormone or what, it's hard to say, he never took any steroids or other drugs for it, though, so yeah.

So the best I can tell you is "maybe."

I went through puberty very slowly. Never had a squeaky voice; it changed so gradually over 10 years that nobody noticed. And I didn't have to shave 'til I was 25, and not every day 'til I was 30. Also I never needed to use deodorant 'til I was in my 30s. I don't mean I just didn't use it; I mean I didn't need it. No idea if this was all due to autism, or just coincidence.

I was still 5'04 and about 100 pounds at the end of my junior year in HS. I'm 6'01 about 200 now. So yeah, I was way late in physical development and have always looked younger than I am. Coupled with my limited social skills, I have always had an issue with people being condescending towards me or not taking me seriously. It's particularly annoying when people my own age or younger act as if they are much older/experienced than me.

Maybe for some peeps but the men in my family age slower than others. I look 16 but I'm 19.

It helps to shave daily and drink a ton of water too. When your a late bloomer, physically and puberty will hit you like a ton of bricks.

I was always behind developmentally. I was flat as a board until I turned 18. I didn't get my period until I was 15. When I was younger I didn't lose my first tooth until I was 7. I didn't get braces until I was 15 due to the fact that I still had milk teeth up until then. I had to get 4 milk teeth pulled because I didn't have any permanent teeth under them. I was extremely skinny until I stopped growing at 18 and then I became more average looking. Also, I remember being the smallest person in my kindergarten class. I'm 5'5 now.
