It's one of the biggest drains on our budget. Instead of raising taxes to ungodly levels, or just telling people to go without any kind of assistance, why can't we reduce the military budget a little? It's not like if we cut back, we'll suddenly be helpless.

We (the US at least) won't be helpless, we just won't be able to effectively maintain our "presence" in other countries, which is something most politicians obviously don't want to lose.

BTW, why'd you post this in Random?

states dont reduce their military spending because they need an army to attack other states... health and education are the least of the states worries. they need the army so that when they decide that either another state has resources they want or is strategically important to them they can invade... in ppr i would run the risk of opening up a socialism vs. capitalism debate when i say this but thats how capitalism works. anything to be able to effectively compete militarily and economically. they use a lot of nationalistic and racist crap to justify this too- serve your country, die to free us, the asians are gonna invade if we dont have an army type stuff.
