To balance out the largely negative discussion of Islam I want to explore the things that go in the positive column because cultural diversity enriches us all apparently. So please provide examples of how my life has improved because of Islam.

Please try to adhere to these couple of rules in this thread:

1) You can only bring up a positive influence, you can't introduce negative ones.

2) You can however disagree with someone about whether or not that influence should be counted as positive.

3) What happened before I was born doesn't count, so don't bother telling me about greek manuscripts or arabic numerals. (The greek manuscripts were pillaged during conquests, many more were destroyed and arabic numerals are actually hindi, not an arabic invention.) Moving on...

So have at it, please enlighten me with all the good stuff that Islam has bought to me and my country.

Like what?

I've been to plenty of Indian restaurants, some run by muslims but the dishes served are the same as in an Indian restaurant run by hindus or sikhs so I don't think Islam can take credit for 'indian' cuisine.

Were you referring to this or to restaurants from another part of the world?

A mixed bag. I almost failed al-gebra, but I occasionally indulge in alcohol-and no I didn't fail algebra because of alcohol, I just suck at math.
Seriously. I suffer from OCD and the anecdote that Arabic tapestry weavers actually put a little flaw on purpose in their works because only God is perfect touched even the cold heart of an agnostic like me.
It made me realize that everything didn't have to be, and actually shouldn't be perfect.
Oops misread the no negatives, but it's not Islam's fault I'm thick with numbers.
The al-cohol thing is because Arab alchemists were among the first to discover distilled liquors for medicinal purposes, a little ironic given the Islamic prohibition on alcohol.

No Borat or Dictator.

I'm just throwing that out there, I've never seen any full length Sacha productions myself.

I've found that Islamic poets have produced some astoundingly beautiful poems and verses, and I doubt these men and women would have written such touching works without the influences of their faith.

Here is what the Jihadis have done for me. They have painted a target on my pink Jewish arse.

Doesn't look very appetizing to me.
What kind of meat is it, dog?
The only thing out of that part of that world that I've had and liked was hash.

Looks healthier than a typical western meal.

Should have been a no brainer. Those Mexicans aren't slicing and dicing themselves up for no reason.
