I do. Does this have to do with autism?

I always take a long time in the shower. The combination of hot water and my sedatives makes me too relaxed to take the lightning-fast 5 minute showers that my family members are capable of taking.

I don't like long showers, unless I'm really really cold when I get in, or don't want to get out because I'll be cold again. My showers do tend to take a bit longer then most people, but I have a very exact routine I follow, and if I can't remember if I did a step, I'll actually start over. The routine itself is actually fairly involved, because I like taking care of myself when I get around to showering every other day or so, and I have a LOT more stuff in my shower then any person living alone really should

BUT I found a good way to make use of my shower time while going through a lengthy routine; I study in the shower with laminated notes, generally long-term study stuff, like vocab for my 3 language classes. I just get them wet and stick them right to the shower wall (have one of those surrounds) that way, while I'm shampooing, conditioning, brushing my teeth, etc, I have something to keep me from getting bored and impatient and skipping steps ^_^

I find the hot water and the solitude so relaxing. (when I'm not in a time crunch ) i stay in the shower longer than anyone i know just because it feels like a little vacation from my stressful life.
It must be a sensory thing.

I find long showers and long soaks in the tub to be relaxing and soothing. During times of great stress, I find myself in danger of growing gills. lol

Aside from feeling wonderful, the shower is my little daydream sanctuary! :D

How do you get enough hot water for that, and how do you not pass out after so long?

I take long showers, though I've learned to shorten them from 40-50 minutes down to my usual 15-20 (30 for extra long, almost down to 10 for really speedy). I always thought it was a fibromyalgia thing.

I get bored in the shower. Get in, wash and get out.

I once lived in a household that had an immense hot water heater, and was able to take hour+ hot showers without depleting the hot water.

The important thing for me was that I could control where the water was aimed so it wouldn't be hitting me all the time, and that I had time to get my usual "shower routine" done.

I much prefer baths, though. Same routine as shower.
