Here I am depressed, just ranting about the BS PEERS UCLA video - and how close to impossible it is to approach a woman with the same interests - and you have to go and post a BS video. Good work

I don't think of someone crying; I think of someone being injured "WAAAAM!"

Single aspie guy here. You really need to lighten up, brah. If you're that depressed, you might consider taking it to the Haven or not posting ITT. I too have had my share of feeling frustrated(+depressed)about difficulties with women, but the more you learn to laugh a little the less depressed and desperate you'll feel. You might consider online dating if you can't approach women IRL. It works.

WhiteWidow, whatever emotional state you are in, this isn't the WhiteWidow Discussion Board.
This isn't breaking any rules. This is intended to be a joke.

You ACTIVELY came into the thread, and actively shared your problems, and placed blame on the poster of the thread when they have no involvement with your life. Take a giant step back for a moment....do you not see how nuts that is? If your first action is to challenge what I've just written, then I suggest you make your second action to seek therapy.

While the PEERS video was contrived, it should only be seen as a demonstration of how one might navigate an interaction with another person. Rather than fixating on the contrived actions and reactions, it is intended that you pay attention to the details of the communication, such as conversation flow, eye contact, tone, facial expressions, and so on, and attempt to emulate them in certain social situation.

That being said, provided you found yourself sitting in a waiting room with a woman who was engage in an activity in which you had an interest in, what would prevent you from approaching her in a similar manner as demonstrated in the video?

The answer is simple but hard to actually do. The social stuff does not come naturally for an aspie so it must be learned by repetition like any other skill. You have probably heard of the PUA stuff, while some of it may be helpful, by itself it will do little without hands on practice. You need to put yourself into situations where these things can happen. For me trips to other countries helped a lot. It works very well if those countries are a lot poorer than where you are from. Places like Philippines, Peru, China, Cambodia, Poland and Ukraine for instant. Maybe its like riding a bike, you can read about it all you want but you will still be unable to ride. Only by getting on it and making a lot of mistakes will you learn to ride.

I thought it was pretty funny. Sometimes people just have to lighten up once in awhile. :) Life is too short be serious 24/7
