While the PEERS video was contrived, it should only be seen as a demonstration of how one might navigate an interaction with another person. Rather than fixating on the contrived actions and reactions, it is intended that you pay attention to the details of the communication, such as conversation flow, eye contact, tone, facial expressions, and so on, and attempt to emulate them in certain social situation.
That being said, provided you found yourself sitting in a waiting room with a woman who was engage in an activity in which you had an interest in, what would prevent you from approaching her in a similar manner as demonstrated in the video?
