Reagan was doing unconstitutional howlers from the git-go. Remember the arms deal down in central america. Also sending arms and money to the Iranians for letting our people go.

Even Thomas Jefferson was guilty. His purchase of the Louisiana Territory was unconstitutional. Shall I tell Jefferson's ghost a thing or two?

Were either Reagan or Jefferson trying to undermine the US Constitution, specifically the 2nd Amendment?

I think the answer to that question would be a no.

Seriously, the President, who had taught constitutional law, is not trying to undermine any part of the constitution.

That's why he appealed the injunction against the NDAA against the wishes of the FBI and CIA.

What is the NDAA?

I hardly think any of us would want to be detained - trial or otherwise.

Then perhaps you should ask your constitutional lawyer friend why he is so determined to get that power!

Is this actually in connection to Fast and Furious?

The NDAA is a large portion of the reason why I'm not voting for Obama and am instead voting for a third party.

And I say this as a leftist Liberal, too. You can look up the finer, more complicated details on Wikipedia; Here's a list of how State Representatives voted on it.

No, it's a response to your claim that Obama is not out to undermine the constitution.

That would be my biggest grievance with the GOP- it would be nice if there was a conservative party that was reliably respectful of civil rights in any matter that has any connection with national security.

Just asking. The implication was, gun shop owners were going to be detained without trial.
But didn't this indefinite detention start out as a Bush administration wet dream?

Not that I remember. If Bush said that, the media would have likely screamed the sky is falling.

If you find something, I'll check it out if it's not too long. I'm not devoting nearly as much time to forums and lengthy debates as I have been recently

I can sympathize with that. As fun as arguments can be, they can stretch on and on.
