I picked Dionysus not because he was the god of wine and excess (although that helped), but because he was the god of rebellion and stripping away societal hypocrisy-very 1960's.

I'm surprised that none of the ladies have voted for Priapus.

Ha ha! Priapus was a favorite garden statue at one time.I wonder what would happen if you put one in the front yard.Freedom of religion you know.Anyway he was suppose to make the garden fertile.

Most of Them. Hestia/Vesta just sat by the hearth tending the fire and never got into trouble, thus making her one of the most respected deities

For some reason.......Hephaestus.

Not much for looks, but is the God of the Forge associated with Volcanoes. He is a metal smith that forges weapons and armor of the Gods.

While crippled, he crafted two automatons to help him. It almost sounds Robotic.

Anyway just the idea of a God metal smith beating down on metal seems cool. Especially in a volcano.

Apollo is the Greek Sun God, whose Egyptian counterpart is Ra. He is not specifically the god of light; and Athena being the Goddess of wisdom is also the Goddess of reason.

As for me, I voted Vanth: The Etruscan Goddess of death.

Athena.

Not sure why.

She was kinda of a "Xena the Warrior Princess" type gal who wore arms and armor.

Maybe its her birth.

One day her dad, Zeus, gets a splitting headache.

Then suddenly she springs forth, a fully grown hot chick dressed like Xena, right out of his forehead.

One of the more interesting variations on the "virgin birth" theme in ancient mythology.

Except I learned later that it might not have been quite 'virgin' after all.

Zeus slept with Metis, but then realized he might be siring a rival diety to himself (as an oracle fortold). So Zeus swallowed Metis whole. But it was too late. Metis was already preggars -and so it was metis giving birth inside Zeus's belly that caused athena to pop out of her dad's head.

But after that she became his favorite daughter.

So this Jerry Springer type drama ended well in the long run.

An inspiration to us all!

Hades, mostly because in many ways Hade is a poor unfortunate sucker who got landed with a bad job and decided to do it as best he could despite that. Of the big three, he's probably the nicest and least inclined towards random violence. Mind you, the Persephone thing is kinda a black mark, but it's also his only one.
