I would. Flies are a nuisance. The fly swatter comes in handy.

I can't hurt a fly, literally. If I see a fly, I have to let it fly. In fact, I can't kill any living thing on this planet. I can't even kill a spider, and I HATE spiders!

I don't believe in killing living things of any kind.

I can easily kill one with a magazine.

Don't try to let them fly out by themselves, they won't and never will, unless you professionally block their path.

I could easily kill a fly. They seem to love pissing me off.

I would kill bacteria because I can't see it so I don't care if it suffers.

I have no problems killing flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches, centipedes, some types of spiders, ants, mice, rats, any pest really. I used to be live and let live when I was young, not anymore, I feel it's almost a duty to kill them. Most of us here are very fortunate to live in areas where these creatures are just a nuisance. In most of the world it's literally a matter of life and death.

This may offend some very well-intentioned people, but just think if a loved one was wasting away, wracked by some disease spread by one of these pests. That's the reality for much of the world's population.

I avoid killing insects unless it's some sort of parasite.

And even then I prefer to let their natural predators get them.

It may be the case that they are deadly in much of the world.

That isn't they case here. Most dangerous insects are very well controlled.

i read a while back, that houseflies defecate 3 times per minute and in the process can spread over 50 different diseases. so i have no trouble sucking 'em up with my vacuum cleaner, so much more sanitary than just smashing 'em with a newspaper. they can outmaneuver me and my flyswatter but they have a lot harder time escaping the suction of a hoover, which can reach them even when they hide in a crevice. :bounce:

Um, I kill spiders? Does that count?

Killed a mouse a few weeks ago (and another tonight if it doesn't keep quiet) I feel bad about that, but have mentioned the mice and asked for humane traps for months and no response. Flies, to me are just flying germs so would definitely kill them if possible.

Wouldn't hurt a fly is an idiom btw

wouldn't harm/hurt a fly
if you say that someone wouldn't hurt a fly, you mean that they are a gentle person and that they would not do anything to injure or upset anyone. Damian just isn't the violent type. He wouldn't hurt a fly.

If I had the opportunity I would end a fly's life, yes.
