I remember when playing Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door there was a part where you can listen to the crows in Twilight Town talking to each other when hiding underground with Vivian, and one of them says they've heard Peach has been kidnapped again and she's probably locked up safe and sound, and the other crow says "That Princess Peach is cute and all, but COME ON, a girl that gets kidnapped every week is just going to break your heart!" and the other says Mario never seems to get tires of rescuing her and says he's a glutton for punishment...
So Nintendo is poking fun at the fact that Mario is constantly having to rescue Peach, but I find it has gotten quite old and monotonous. If she can take care of herself in Super Mario 2, Super Smash Bros. and Super Princess Peach, why not the rest of the time?. I really hate to say it but she's a regular dumbhead in distress. In spite of this, peaches still remain one of my favorite fruits.

And this is one of the many reasons that Sonic is better.

Does Sonic ever get tired of attempting to murder Robotnik?

In all honesty, I think Bowser and Peach are getting sick of Mario breaking up their little love trysts. :P Poor Mario just can't get the hint that Peach likes being kidnapped!

He probably gets tired of most of his games getting mediocre review scores while Mario's are usually rated very highly. I personally like both Mario and Sonic games though.

Worst thing they ever did was give Sonic a voice, and have that voice be someone other than Jaleel White.

They've sort of made a comeback with Colors and Generations.

I don't think Mario really cares all that much about Peach. But he has noticed that whenever Peach gets kidnapped, he gets to go on an entertaining adventure and meet new friends. Better than spending his days in a bored sleepy state, surrounded by tiny mushroom people with irritating voices.

Sonic, on the other hand... I like to think that Sonic spends all his free time running around and around a gigantic circuit which covers the whole world. So whenever anything suspicious happens, he's usually the first to know about it, and he just thinks of the subsequent adventure as a little detour.

The classic Mario plot is really getting old.

Bowser Jr. should take over for Bowser entirely since he is cooler.

I don't think it is. When it comes to Mario platformers, I think that the "classic Mario plot" does its intended job perfectly, which is to make you completely ignore the plot. Mario platformers are about the journey, not the destination.

When it comes to Mario RPGs, where the story is important, this "classic Mario plot" has actually never been used to drive the story. Sometimes it is thrown in as a subplot, always with some ironic twist.

Yeah, he does get bored. That's why, every so often, he'll refuse to fight Bowser and fight some other boss instead (e.g., Wart). Or he'll decide to go play some sports and only worry about winning rather than saving some tired ol' dame.

Mario will get sick of doing the same thing every time when Nintendo gets sick of going swimming in their Scrooge McDuck-esque money vault.
