Anyone else have terribly boring dreams? It's supposedly an alexithymic symptom, but just curious who can relate to dreams of going to classes you logically never went to, or internally consistent dreams of spending the day doing accounting.

For the longest time as a kid, I wouldn't even remember any of my dreams. I thought I couldn't dream, so I would daydream the most fantastic stuff I could dream right before going to bed to inspire those dreams of flying or being a dinosaur or...anything. Luckily, since being happily in a long term relationship, for whatever reason (be it age or just sleeping with someone else in the bed), they've become a little more memorable, but I've still never been anyone but myself, and its still things like carrying mattresses through downtown New York or being an accountant in Ancient Persia.

Still, I'm terribly jealous of people who have vibrant, crazy dreams of being someone who they're not, or someone who can go into a lucid state and just start flying around. I have some amount of lucidity right before waking up, but my internal logic won't let me just fly off while I'm at work or studying advanced physics at Oxford (which logically I never have, so I know it's a dream state, but its a dream state with rules!)

I guess one bright point is that I never have nightmares. So there is that.

My dreams are always too interesting, so I always want to stay in them, but not the ones about the really big dinosaur stalking around my village.

The grass is always greener on the other side. I have crazy dreams that often revolve around violence and wake up with adrenalin pumping through my body and my heart beating out of my chest. Careful what you wish for.

My dreams are not what I would call boring. A lot of my dreams center around a town on an inlet off of the ocean. There is a campground on one end of it. It seems so real, but it seems to be born out of a fictional town I am creating in HO scale for a train layout and as a setting for a novel I am writing.

That sounds highly interesting. Most aspiring writers claim you have to start out with non-fiction. Truth is stranger than fiction ya know? Just take a little more leg work to document stuff. I like the way you think. Best of fortunes on the book. I will proof read it for for free if you will send the first autographed copy. Thanks.

Consider yourself lucky. How would you like to have to force yourself to wake up because the next thing you might see will be extremely violent in nature?

That's more like me. I wish I had boring dreams once in a while.

The wierd part is that more violence in dreams makes me more relaxed in the morning.

My dreams are exciting, anxiety provoking or just down right scary. I often get into heated arguments too.

Normally I don't seem to dream much although last week, after trying to figure out why I cant remember much of my childhood, I dreamt that my wife touched my shoulder and I could not stop screaming in terror. I think I might have answered my questions about why my mind refuses to go back there though - might be best just to let that stuff rest.

I literally dream about doing homework. It seems my subconscious records whatever homework I can't figure out and I chew on it in my sleep. I can't tell you the number of times that I wake up and prove something for Math on the notepad beside my bed. It's weird. I also wake up with essays composed in my head. Does this count as boring?

I have some very interesting ones, but four times this month I've dreamed of being sleep deprived. Boring much?

My dreams have never been boring. They're always pretty crazy. That can make them very disturbing though. At least you probably don't dream of violence, death or torture like I do sometimes.

I rarely remember mine. Or at least I don't remember anything super-specific. Usually it's been things like flashbacks to 11th or 12th grade math where we have a test that day and I haven't done the homework for the previous three weeks. I also go through some revolving around losing teeth for some reason. I'll just be standing there and suddenly spit out a bicuspid. Then I wake up and no, I didn't lose any, all 28 are still there.

My dreams are downright surreal, definitely not boring. Sometimes they are so unearthly they scare me in an aetheral way.
