Nothing to worry about, kiddies! The big, bad rock is too far away to hurt you!

A three-mile-long asteroid makes a "close" flyby of Earth Tuesday – depending on your definition of close. Asteroid Toutatis, discovered by French astronomers in 1989, will pass by at 18 times the distance from the Earth to the moon, or about 4.3 million miles, at 10:40 p.m. Pacific time.

I think we can sleep through this one.

What would happen if an asteroid of that size were to hit the Moon?

Nothing important. There'd be a new crater for astronomers to name, and that's about it.

In case anyone is worried by this event; put your mind at rest: I am offering "End of the World" insurance for the bargain premium price of $100. If the world ends on 21st December killing everyone on the planet I will pay you $1 Million. I accept all major credit cards and PayPal. :P

There are two chances of impact in the next 1000 years. Slim and None.

Even so, I think people should work on a technology for diverting those big bad rocks.
