The jarring thing is that there are some countries where you also don't get an 'other' option.

There are some countries (that we can't name for fear of offending the Campaign for Real Ale member lookalikes) where they kill people for leaving the state religion, all backed up by their only book. I'll leave you to guess what sort of countries those might be.

I'm a veil-wearing, Latin-praying Roman Catholic all the way.

I would like to make a distinction between "religion", and God.
Apart from Judaism and the first 300 years of Christianity, all religion is a construct of man used to control people and get them to do bad things.

None of them are in harmony with or truly represent the Abrahamic God, but of course people put them in the same basket and blame God for the works of man.

^ "God" is what a person believes in.

"Faith" is belief without empirical or measurable evidence.

"Religion" is the socio-political expression of Faith.

God =\= Faith

Faith =\= Religion

Religion =\= God

I agree. Religions are NOT fairy tales!

Most are just based on fairy tales.

I don't like how people use religion as a way to manipulate or scam others but I think everyone should have the rite to fallow & practice whatever religion they want as long as they are respectful of everyone else fallowing their own.

I sometimes pray, but I don't have any strong opinions about whether or not someone is listening. It's just a coping mechanism.

I don't think that anything "supernatural" has ever happened since the creation of the universe. Everything just follows the rules - I guess you could call them the "laws of physics", although I don't assume that we really understand them yet.

I do find it very strange that I have subjective experience, and I don't think I will ever get over how strange it is. But I don't think it's a basis for believing in an afterlife.
