I've seen a lot of threads where people are talking about some problem, and someone comes in with the advice "Just move somewhere else!".
Why do people assume that everyone has the means to "just move somewhere else" whenever they feel like it?

I don't typically get that, I mean sure I have suggested moving as an option to people but with the understanding not everyone has the resources to just up and move...even if they would like to. I mean someone could say that to me if I mention something I am unhappy about at my moms house and well quite frankly the only place I have to move to would be the street which would obviously make me even worse off.

So yeah not very practical general advice.

People usually assume the person they're speaking to is similar to themselves.

Thus, those who are self-dependent and CAN move, usually assume other people can do the same - they forget how many aspies are very limited due to lack of finances (usually stemming from our poor social skills, leading to poor to no employment.)

Then again, like the fable of Mice Belling the Cat, it's easy to propose a solution that would work but is near-impossible to accomplish.

I think you may be right.
