An important new study—the first of its kind—finds a genetic connection that may yield better treatments and less stigma for big mental illnesses.

I think the big link that will end the stigma, is the realization that mental conditions are not always a bad thing.

Fact is there are just as many people with ordered people as there are disordered.

I think if you understand the neurology it's obvious.

My mother for example would be labeled with ADD and OCD. But it's given her an exceptionally ordered and productive life.

I think it's laughable that the article says there's a "surprising link" between some of the disorders. Depression is part and parcel of bipolar disorder. Schizophrenia and bipolar disorder are the two main psychoses. Big shocker that they're genetically linked!

This is so inaccurate. This is just another study confirming a finding we've known for at least five years, if not more.

News articles are so annoyingly out of date when it comes to genetics. They completely miss the major developments, then pick some random study a few years later and make a big deal out of it.

Surely this is the same information as this thread posted on 28th Feb: http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt225085.html
