I'm a communist. I'm wondering if my Asperger played a role there? What do you think?

If I may ask, why are you a communist?

To answer your question, being an aspie has nothing to do with being a communist. I'm aspie and I'm not even a liberal.

Because I love communism and hate capitalism, fascism, religion and all right wing politics.

i'll take a SWAG at it- i'm guessing that higher-functioning aspies tend to prefer engaging in unfettered capitalism simply because they can. [whereas lower-functioning aspies such as myself tend to lack the smarts and cajones to be such]

I'm not sure what happened to my reply. I too hate fascism. Nor am I a fan of capitalism as it is currently practiced. As far as religion goes, I'm not religious myself, but do have great respect for the sincerely religious. And I'm not a communist. I'm still puzzled as to why you are. Have you read about the history of communism as it was actually practiced?

That's too bad. But if you prefer failure over success, that is your business, not ours.

One of the most leftist people I know says that the United States is showing the world how to become the world's most successful socialist state. While I think he's wrong, you do have to admit that the working poor in the United States are far better off than the working poor in any communist/socialist country that ever existed.

I don't think AS has much effect on ideology, I myself am a liberal capitalist, though I can imagine there might be more AS atheists or agnostics since from my experience we tend to favour ideas based on logic over faith.

 unique to America [relative to the rest of the west], the working poor have NO regular access to affordable healthcare. sure, the indigent/homeless can go to the ER but if a mcjob worker [IOW minimum wage and no benefits] tries that he or she will be financially ruined for life. even in cuba, there is healthcare for the working poor which won't bankrupt them.

@eric76: Fact is capitalism is a failure, see economic crisis and government debt, but if you prefer that, that is your business...

I lean Libertarian in terms of how the Federal government operates, but I'm fairly open to socialism operated by state and municipal government. We have state and local police. We have local fire rescue, ambulances, and snow plow service. it makes sense that a medical safety net could be run by city or state government to.

I also look to Canada and find some appeal in the fact that their Health Care seems to be Provincial. I'm sure Ottawa has some pull by attaching strings to subsidies, but they don't run the whole thing.

The economic crisis and government debt is NOT the result of Capitalism. Rather, it is the result of turning away from and avoiding Capitalism.

Capitalism isn't a failure, it is big government that is the failure.

Economic crisis and government debt are only a problem in capitalist countries, but please come back to topic...

A couple of years ago, a woman from Canada who lives in Mexico wrote about her and her husband going to Canada for a medical operation for her husband. The operation would be paid for by the government, but it would be at least 6 to 8 weeks before it could be performed. They returned to Mexico and he had the operation the same week in Mexico. While they had to pay all of their medical bills out of their pocket, those bills were less than what it would have cost them to hang around in Canada for the 6 to 8 weeks waiting for the operation.

I second this question! Yes, by all means, please read everything you can get your hands on about the history of communism and how it worked out. Let us know how you feel about it then.
To paraphrase Churchill: "Capitalism is the worst form of government, except for all the others". In other words, it's the best we've managed to come up with, as imperfect as it may be.
