I'm so scared of getting out there, and having a place for a while but then hubby loses a job or something and there's no where to turn. I know it sounds silly, but I don't think I can "take" being homeless. And I'll have my kitty cat. Of course, Kitty is one of the more appealing aspects of leaving here... I'm just... terrified. I don't have good luck... like, ever.... so to take such a large leap of faith... It's just crazy.
We are saving what we can, but as hubby delivrs Pizzas for work, there's still a bit of money going to gas now.
To be honest i think the money is in the Oil work not the Pizza work up there, I could be wrong. Has he done anything like that before because that would be a big head start. From the little I know of it there is not much outside the oil industry.
I don't want to put you off but please do your homework. Stating the obvious here, but, yes being homeless sucks, big time.
Neilson: You are right about the "real money" being in the oil jobs. But the thing is that the locals have been quitting the other jobs, to join the oil jobs, and those other jobs have to compete to get people to stay with them. So there's a lot of openings there that pay more than they would here. I never said it would be glamourous or solve everything.... but if we can break even even with what we are dealing with here, then it'll be worth it. Hell, for all I know homelessness will be better. Scares the crap outta me, but who knows.
He's not worked anywhere but retail and fast food so far. I worked in the office world, but I can't handle the pressures of work so my experience is a moot issue. But there's hope that he can at least get an entry-level manufacturing/warehouse job, or low-rank oil gig, and work his way up. It seems he needs to secure a CDL with Hazmat at the very least... but all the jobs we find require experience he doesn't have... so... like I said. it's a gamble... but if we stay here eventually we'll get kicked out and be no better off than today anyways.
