Did you watch The Bridge?
Alex,
I agree that the pilot is critical decision point, a bit less so after season 2 starts I'd guess. Can't do much about the pilot at this point, right? Technically just removing a few very short (seconds) segments could make a substantial difference, I wonder if that's possible at this stage.
Were I in your shoes I'd actually propose it to the production team in the interest of long term financial benefit and improved PR with NTs and Aspies alike. Considering that this series appears to be the most accurate portrayal of AS to date (fictional TV/Movie), and the potential of being quite popular, I believe it's worth a shot.
AS has too much bad press already and the masses seem to "learn" more from fictional media content than anything else. Regardless of how good the show is or how many seasons it lasts it's out there now, minds are being impacted.
Just my two cents.

Probably most of you know that 400 young women have disappeared or been found murdered in Ciudad Juarez over the last 20 years. For most of this time the police in Juarez have just thrown up their hands, "Oh well."

the police are like that pretty much anywhere, its actually really easy to get away with murder if you use your head
Pilot was OK - it felt too fragmented for my taste. I prefer longer, atmospheric scenes, as done by many of the better-produced shows nowadays. None of the characters managed to draw me in - they seem pretty stereotypical and boring so far, so I hope they'll use the coming episodes for some character development. I also didn't like the music too much.
Overall seems like an interesting show that isn't produced all that well (well, the standards are high nowadays), but I'll give it a few more episodes to see if I like it. Not sure I have an opinion of the portrayal of AS yet.

I don't believe that for a second. Maybe people without a conscience can get away with murder, but the vast majority of murders aren't like that at all. They are crimes of passion.

We're gonna watch it tonight, spoilers don't bother me...
It is true about the Serial Killer(s) running around Mexico around Juarez city. It could also be sex trafficking/murders or all combined.
I believe we sent our feds over to help, yet they never caught whoever is responsible. Mexico can be corrupt and cops bribed.
Mujeres de Juarez was a movie about it.
It is sad, they need to catch the killer. I think we need the CIA to get it done.
Juarez as a whole is a sh*thole filed with crooked cops, cartels, rape, and murders. The place is a warzone, death is a part of war, and after a while people become "complacent" to a certain degree.
Imagine your local police dealing with a civil war within a city; further imagine these men being threatened that their family will be harmed if they "don't look the other way".-This does not leave much time for "traditional" police work and considering the fact the detective "on the case" knows if he busts the wrong person he or his family members will be raped, maimed, tortured, or killed is it that hard to imagine why there may be so many unsolved murders?
These 400 women only scratch the surface to what is really going on down there, most of which is occurring because idiots in the whitehouse want to outlaw plants that kill no one so the members of the ATF can keep their jobs.
Like it or not, dumbass laws in America created many of the terrorist problems in the world. The war on drugs has been lost; we need to wakeup!
I realize now where I had faltered. I was judging the show as a show with a character that is supposed to have Aspergers rather than as a show about detectives trying to solve a crime. I rewatched it and I actually really enjoyed it. I tend to have bipolar tendencies and yesterday I was on the onslaught of the beginnings of a bad mood that usually is followed by "sensory" days. Sure enough, today at work the sounds of the ac ducts moving in the ceiling were making me crazy. I actually think she is doing a good job at portraying Aspergers; I was doing a poor job of watching it objectively. It's funny, if you google search "the bridge" and leave out "autism" or "aspergers" it is not even mentioned in most synopsis.
Basically, I tried to watch it like I knew nothing about it, and in doing so I found it more enjoyable.
Sorry if you took my criticism personal Alex; I know how us Aspies can really strive for perfection and be hyper critical of ourselves-and it only takes one validation against perfection for a tidal wave of negativity to run in. Sorry for that, I don't even know you, but I suspect one day you will know me. I have two ASD kids and I am Aspie myself which is creating a burning desire to change the way Autism is viewed by the world so my and many other kids don't have to grow up in the world we did.
I suspect, with our cause being the same, we will cross paths one day; until then keep up the good work, you're an inspiration.
I thought it was great. I think it will get a big audience. Thought provoking and entertaining. I was glad that it cut the fine balance between being creepy and scary without being too creepy.
I liked the portrayal of Cross and so did my wife.
I think I have more "would you like a glass of water" moments than I like to think, but they are what they are.
I am looking forward to more!

No this murder is not a crime passion. It was theorized that was work of serial murder where the women were brutally raped and buried in the desert. The problem with Mexico is that the women are not valued as equals in a mans world the culture is very chauvisnistic. So the women worked at Maquiladoras and often made more than the males in other areas of work which created a culture clash. Most of the women immigrated from poorer communities that rural in that country and also other latin countries. The federales the Mexican police do not have the resources to catch the murders but not all the women were from Mexico and turned out that few of women were United States citizens. That is when F.B.I. because by jurisdiction laws are specific only Mexico can authorize people who have guns. If you have a gun and cross border you can get arrested and thrown in Mexican Prison.
I'm intrigued to find out where they have set it and how it's been adapted in the US version, seeing as the beautiful Øresund bridge and the contrasts and similarities between Denmark and Sweden played such a strong role in the original.
I enjoyed the Cross character's portrayal but think that the disrobing in front of her boss was indulgent and a cheap shot to get some skin on camera. I also felt that her apology for the lack of empathy was a bit reaching and contrived--it was as if the writers were trying to scream, "Asperger's!" instead of relying strictly on observable behavior and "natural" dialogue. If they had left it alone at just asking him if he wanted a glass of water, that would have been enough. Less is more.
