My father has many traits of Aspergers, like "textbook", but he is not diagnosed and I am not sure at all, if he even knows about it.
My autism is more severe than his, as he is able to hold down a job for 45 years now (he is specialized in his area, even did inventions, but has no good contact to co-workers), can drive, has children (but does not care at all).
He archieved a lot I did not.
I do not have a lot of contact to him (2 autists, neither of us is calling or making an appointment, see each other only at christmast and easter, when neurotypical part of family is arranging it/ parents divorced).

None of my family members are diagnosed, but I've noticed quite a few. My father and his brothers all have clear signs. Also, their mother showed very clear AS signs. My mother and her brother also exhibit AS signs, along with my own sister. The odd part of all this is that none of my cousins show signs.

Reading this I think, that there is a possibility, that more people from father's side might qualify for autism/BAP, but there is no contact to this side of family at all..........they were just described by neurotypical part of family as being "odd" and worse "crazy" and stuff.......people to "avoid"........
Neurotypical part of family (like mother) does not understand autism at all.
She said, that I have been "normal" until she finally joined my assessment recently (I am diagnosed now for almost 2.5 years, but without "childhood reference", but people assessing me said, it was a clear case).
Now finally the mother did the official childhood-assessment a couple weeks ago and it is clearly autistic (high-scores), but before it was only me being a naughty child = bad character.

My brotheris diagnosed with LFA.
My father has a lot of AS traits but was diagnosed wit schizoid features because AS wasn't commonly diagnosed at the time.

I do not know much about other family members, so I can't tell if they have autistic traits.

I've noticed traits in my sister, but I don't think she would get a diagnosis.

My mother was clearly an aspie with ADHD. I know now. My brother had some autistic traits too.

I don't know but I do believe that there was, is a lot of undiagnosed mental illness in my family. My dad was somewhat successful working in a family business, but after that he couldn't hold a job. Also one of his brothers, I believe was severely mentally ret*d. I don't think my dad had AS though. He was way too extravert for that. His problem was more alcoholism. Although even when he wasn't drunk, he still had problems.

My mother may have been a good bet for mild AS. She was sociable, but very introvert. She didn't maintain any friendships, except with the people she worked with at the time. She had a lot of talent for art, but didn't do too much with that. She suffered from major depression. Her sister I think was pretty much the same. But they were both very high-fuctioning, and had no problem keeping jobs.

I'm the only one in the family that is totally dysfunctional. So I don't know.

My brother has autism, and both of my parents have subclinical autistic traits. My uncle isn't alive anymore, but he was also on the spectrum. It definitely runs in my family.

My dad has AS. My grandfather (dad's dad) probably had it but he died before I was born. My cousin (dad's brother's son) shows signs but a diagnosis was denied. My uncle (mom's brother) may have it. I guess I can't be surprised I have AS. My dad's side with the children having AS and my mom's side with its tendency for the children to have characteristics of their aunts/uncles more than their parents (I look like my aunt, her daughter looks like my mom and her son looks like her brother). Basically, I could have gotten double AS genetics. :D

My older brother and two of cousins (on my dad's side) are officially diagnosed. My mum and I strongly believe that my dad has autism too. My mum also believes that my dad's mum probably also had autism, she finds it strange that despite the fact that I never really knew her (she died when I was very young and didn't live near by) I am very similar to her in my behaviour. Other members of my family also show some traits.

I have a few family members who I could describe as being on the spectrum, my uncle and then my father show many signs of being on the spectrum and on my mothers side my grandmother and great uncle both show signs of having some kind of social learning disability.

No, I have never had any autistic family members or any family members with any mental illness whatsoever.
