Other family members with autism?

Since the likelihood of getting autism is genetic (is this actually confirmed yet? anyway...) I wonder if you have any other family members with autism.

My dad and/or my grandfather may have asperger's, they both show signs of it, though neither of them ever got tested for it.
I also have a fairly distant cousin from my grandfather's family branch who has low-functiong autism.

I believe my deceased grandmother showed signs of it. She was never tested for it

My brother is on the spectrum for sure whether he's aware of it or not.
There are a few relatives on my mother's side of the family that probably are on the spectrum.
On my dad's side some of them are just plain nutty and that's as tactful as I can put it.

My mum thinks I have my Aspergers from her. We also believe that my uncle (her brother) and her father are/were autistic. But I'm the only one whose diagnosed.

I would suspect many of my family members on my mom's side has it. For as long as I can remember my mother always said "be kind to your grandfather today he is having a <last name> day" , or "well, it looks like your niece has inherted <last name> disease". Now I've been diagnosed as AS, my neice is getting tested next week. My son is being watched due to some things he exhibits however he is so adaptive they can't tell yet (he is 4).

My brother and my only first cousin (mother's brother's child) are diagnosed HFA. Personally, I suspect that my mother may have been on the spectrum, and I am self-diagnosed AS, working on a diagnosis.

I am the only one diagnosed in my family; however, this is probably because I come from a poor family and we couldn't have afforded the specialists except I was court-mandated to have a psychological evaluation after an incident at school when I was a kid (long story, less dramatic than it sounds). Anyway, my father shows signs of mild autistic traits but he was born before Asperger's or HFA or any of that were known diagnoses. My daughter, who lives with my parents, has many of the same traits I had as a kid and/or continue to have, although my mother says she seems to be somewhat higher on the spectrum than me. They are having a hard time getting her a confirmed diagnosis, though, and my mother believes this is because they have Medicaid coupons and have to use public health systems.

No one else in my family has been officially diagnosed, but they haven't been tested either. My mom shows some very strong signs of being on the spectrum; in particular, she has a large amount of difficulty describing or identifying emotions she's feeling, even when they're obvious to me (which is saying something, truly), she's blunt and honest to a fault, has difficulty reading nonverbal cues from others, and experiences a large amount of stress if she can't go through specific daily rituals. It's also likely that she has a learning disorder of some type (or perhaps multiple learning disorders), and she's been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder.

I don't have a large amount of personal experience with my dad, but my family members seem pretty confident that he'd also place firmly on the spectrum were he tested. And potentially any of my siblings. My family is kind of a neurological mish-mash of everything.

Probably my father, although he died long before AS was commonly known. My mother? I don't know for sure, but she definitely had some mental issues.

My cousin has autism. My grandpa had a lot of the symptoms and so did his sister. One of my ancestors who was a Native American use to rock back and forth and people thought she was "weird", so I'm sure she had autism too.

I have no living members of my father's family that I am aware of. I have 3 cousins on my mother's side and I think 2 have undiagnosed AS.

My son has Autism, and I suspect my Uncle does too. He was labelled as 'backwards' as a child and spent most of his youth in a 'special school'. But back in the 50's no-one knew what Autism / Aspergers was.

Autism was known since the 1940's but not many kids were diagnosed with it. It was a very rare condition then. They were given other labels instead like schizophrenia, brain damage, mental retardation, and I suspected that was still happening when I was a small child because I saw a book that was published in 1984 and it was about kids with learning disabilities. It was obvious some kids they used as examples had autism but they had other labels instead. I bet in the 2000's they would have been diagnosed with AS or autism.

dad born in 1927 probably had AS. nephew is diagnosed.

My father has many traits of Aspergers, like "textbook", but he is not diagnosed and I am not sure at all, if he even knows about it.
My autism is more severe than his, as he is able to hold down a job for 45 years now (he is specialized in his area, even did inventions, but has no good contact to co-workers), can drive, has children (but does not care at all).
He archieved a lot I did not.
I do not have a lot of contact to him (2 autists, neither of us is calling or making an appointment, see each other only at christmast and easter, when neurotypical part of family is arranging it/ parents divorced).
