So today my daughter threw the mother of all tantrums. My wife had to literally carry her out of the dentists office. I know that kids have tantrums but she is almost 6. There are other things that she does as well that makes me think she may have ASD like taking things too literal, getting upset when kids don't play exactly as she wants them to or choosing not to play all together and will ignore everyone and read instead. I guess the issue is communication. Im hoping someone can point me in the correct direction because our family is suffering by the way we get frustrated and yell at what we perceive as poor behavior when maybe it could be something else. I also sometimes can't tell between typical child behavior and autistic behavior. Any help would be amazing. We seem to be struggling to show her how much we love our baby girl.

Shell out the money and have her tested.

All I can say.

I didnt throw tantrums ( I was abnormally quiet as a child).

But each aspie/autie is different. She also has some traits like me as a child as well.

She might be nt, or aspie, or something else.

Got tested as an adult through the national autism association ( i believe thats what its called) and they gave me the name of specialist who tested me.

Sorry I dont remember the exact name of the organization, but thats one way to go.

The thing with aspies is tantrums aren't a symptom of the disorder-meltdowns are. They're different. They are not caused by the same thing but they are very tantrum-LIKE and violent. It sounds to me she might just simply have behavior issues or maybe she is autistic. But if her meltdowns are caused by not getting her way etc. things typical of tantrums they themselves are not a symptom of autistic disorders.
