Asperger is a french verb meaning 'to sprinkle'

I laughed aloud when I read that in my French dictionary.

Heh... Interesting. Of course, it's named after the German guy who identified the syndrome (and "asperger" in French would sound completely different than English), but that's an interesting tidbit. :)

Okay, that's just plain awesome! I just looked it up in my French dictionary, and it said "to spray." I guess we've been hosed down with a coating of high-functioning autism.

Oui, c'est vrai, mais on se prononce ce mot différemment que celui de l'anglais ou de l'allemand. Je fais du français depuis longtemps, mais je l'ai appris par quelqu'une ici.

I'm sprinkled with Asperger's! It sounds like something that you eat (with the sprinkling), although I don't know exactly how or even why someone would eat Asperger's! lol

Comment dit-on le mot 'autism' en francais? Il est un cognate?

Maybe we should all start prounouncing Asperger the French way (As-perr-zhay) as
it sounds better. No disrespect to Hans Asperger .

It's an interesting thought that certain words or names can have completely different
meanings depending on your native language. If we see a shop sign saying
'Sale Sale Sale' to a French person it looks like 'Dirty Dirty Dirty' !

Another French tidbit:

'Pain' is french for 'bread'. :?

C'est interessant, no?

Of course asperges means asparagus - already knowing what asperger meant I kept thinking of asparagus as sprinkles.
