A couple of weeks ago, I wrote an iambic pentameter for my high school English class. Upon turning it in the next day, however, I realized I was the only one who had actually done it. (My teacher probably never meant to actually grade them, but he wasn't very clear on that.) Since I took so much time writing it and I kind of like it, I might as well put it somewhere.

Shattered glass through which life’s bright light once shone
Once thriving in hearts, then mangled by fears
A stone Wall through which destruction was thrown
Stampeding feet trampling the useless tears
Like livestock avoiding crimson slaughter
Most will not escape a dark, brutal fate
Or have time to mourn dead sons and daughters
And for humanity, it seems too late
But a small few, whose shining rays of hope
Pierce through solid darkness, choose to move on
Each resolving to climb the uphill slope
After everything they hold dear is gone
But while death stirs pain and spirits are downed
When all seems lost, there is more to be found

This was inspired by Attack on Titan and a certain soundtrack (Vogel im Käfig) from said show.

Very nicely done - a 14 line sonnet written with simple iambic pentameter. Shakespeare would've been proud.

iambic pentameter well done you, I was going to mention Shakespeare too but Redrobin62 beat me to it.
The poem is actually really good, well done you!

You, sir, have earned my respect! It's only once every few months that I see a poem I really like on these forums, and this one was really good.

A fitting poem for the series, nicely done Historia.
