Hi guys,

Warning that some links contain strong and/or upsetting language.

I don't post on here often, because I don't often get upset by things any more.

There's some weird thing going on on twitter that's upsetting lots of people. Some journalists are kind of taking it out on people like us, though.

First thing I saw:

A writer for Gawker saying "nerds should be constantly shamed and degraded into submission"
https://twitter.com/samfbiddle/status/5 ... 5287303169

I had to grow up with that. I don't appreciate someone in the press promoting that, at all.

They go on and on...

And then the Editor-in-Chief of Gawker, Max Read, steps in to make his big statement on this behaviour:

"on reflection i just spent the day f*****g with teens and damaged or neuroatypical ppl. productive and enriching use of my time."
https://twitter.com/max_read/status/522878916982472704

It seems people like us are the 'nerds' he meant. But, damaged?

I know it isn't on any of their sites. Am I overreacting to those in control of Gawker.com saying things like this in public on Twitter?

It's really bothering me. I don't see any remorse, either.

I'd ignore it, Gawker makes a living off behaving predatorily, wouldn't surprise me if they'd deliberately tweeted it to try and cause controversy...

Gawker in all honesty is a terrible website, like so many gossip websites are. Bunch of intolerant people who probably don't realize that those with special needs most likely read their website.

Kotaku is a sham of a video game site, it's more of a blog site. I see little to no news posted and when it is, it's usually updated later because it was wrong. They mostly post 'oh look at this cool thing' or non-related gaming crap when the site is SUPPOSED to be about news and reviews (which they are poorly done anyhow, but that is subjective)

I agree. It seems Kotaku has become a site for viewing hot female cosplayers.

Because jerks are often greedy and greedy people typically want money more than anything else

That's my 2 cents on it

:wtg: what jerks really want is POWER, and in America, money=power. the more money=more power. unlimited money=unlimited power.

Regardless of your stance on gamer-gate, I secretly think that gawker wants this to go on even longer so they can get more website traffic and ad revenue

Sounds like a useless website if that is what the people in control of it regurgitate to the public via twitter...so I would not pay much mind to it. I also don't use twitter feel like it would be kind of a waste of time and I don't really get how that site works. Also though you don't only have to post on this site when something upsets you....there is plenty of general conversation that goes on here to.

Sam Biddle knows very few bounds. He's in trouble with MSNBC for invading Taylor Swift's privacy now.
