Seeing the lovely smile of Swiper in THIS THREAD ABOUT EYES IN PHOTOS made me wonder if this is another Aspie trait, to not show teeth when smiling as most people do?

I smile like Swiper, I cannot smile and show my teeth, I would have to do an impersonation of a rabbit to do so which would look most odd.

No, and I try not to smile too often either.

No and I have to make a deliberate effort to smile.

I have no trouble smiling, and I always show my teeth when I smile.
It is easier to show my teeth than not, as it is hard to smile with my mouth closed.
I learned that in Japanese culture, it is considered socially inappropriate to show your teeth when you smile.

You should tick the yes option in my poll then please.
Otherwise I will be thinking I have discovered an Aspie identification marker as so far we have 100% No.

Nope, never. Weird, I was expecting it to be about 50-50, and so far everyone says "No" (at least in the poll).

All the autistic people I know also show their teeth when they smile.

No, likely because I tend to be self-conscious about my teeth, especially since one of them is chipped. Luckily, I'll be going back to the dentist this Tuesday to get that fixed.

I only show my teeth when I growl.

Woof Woof!

No, but it has nothing to do with my autism. I have bad teeth, and they look awful if I show them. I'm supposed to be getting dentures soon, so hopefully, I'll be able to smile with much better teeth.

Yes, I'm pretty sure do it all the time. People say I have good teeth, so I must do it. :D

NO! I've seen pictures of myself when I have been forced to smile; looks like every photo of a serial killer I've ever seen. Kind of a cross between a snarl and evil grin. 8O

It depends.
If I am really happy at a moment I will smile and show all my teeth and even gums - thats my natural smile, I can't control it.
But if I am forced to smile for a photo I will just smile with my lips closed.

I checked "no", but probably a little bit. But I really HATE seeing other people's gums when they smile, probably especially in photographs where it's not just a fleeting expression, but stays put. For some reason, gums look repulsive to me. There was one much-circulated news photograph of a supposedly beautiful woman who got murdered, or maybe just died, that showed so much gum I couldn't stand to look at it. I was really glad when the publicity died down so that I wasn't seeing that nasty picture everywhere. :)
