A cure? No thank you.
That you cite stimming as relieving stress and anxiety is quite troubling. Yes it does do those things, however, it's only a band aid solution to a more complex problem in relation to stress and anxiety. In short, it doesn't solve anything, it just makes it seem a little bit better, which is a problem if that's the only way of dealing with stress and anxiety. Kids usually grow up, and figure out ways for themselves how to overcome these things, a different way, a better permanent way, other than standing there flapping away and pretending that it solves something. While stimming provides the illusion of a fix to stress and anxiety, it also can end up creating even more problems just like you've described.
Scholarly papers on the subject disagree with you. I will stick with the experts on this.
Then you don't provide these scholarly papers. Show me an example where stimming is recommended as a coping mechanism. Name one specialist that says it's not detrimental to stim as an adult.
Now this is what ad hom is. You cited a very round number: "2000 psychological professionals all agree with me" You've nothing that demonstrates these 2000 experts even exist, or that they're even experts in the field, let alone mirror what you're posting. Pointing these things out, and asking for something substantive is not calling you a liar, nor is it being disrespectful.
(Oh, I definitely have the evidence for it, but I left it in my other pants.)
Ok, then you don't have anything to substantiate that.
(I do have the evidence! I just don't want to show you, because I think you're a meanie.)
No, you're just looking for excuses to not provide anything substantive, because in reality, qualified specialist don't agree with you, let alone 2000 of them. You just want to ignore what actual specialists are saying in favor of a bias confirmation that you're comfortable with.
As for treating symptoms of autism, I believe it is the right of the individual to determine if they want medication/therapy or not. That would be my stance on a cure as well, but ...
Upon seeing many posts stating the belief that a cure would result in cures being forced on others, and the possibility of insurance companies not giving benefits to those refusing a cure, makes me vote "no" for cures.
First, I do not want a cure for myself if such a cure did exist.
Second, I believe the curing of autism would have a negative effect upon the advancements of this earth. It takes autistics and NTs alike to make the world work and advance in technology, etc. To remove autism from the earth would remove part of the equation that makes the world work. It is my opinion that curing autism would be a very bad thing.
But it is true that many individuals would most likely benefit with a cure. There are some very challenged autistics. But there are also autistics who like myself, are quite happy with having autism, and are able to make autism's traits work to our advantage.

I stated clearly that I was done with you.
You are now directly calling me a liar. I am not providing citations because I am four hours from my files. I have been shooting on my new series since 8 am. It has been a 14 hour day. (Yes, during breaks I checked my posts here)... I have no desire to cowtow to someone that engages in ad hominem attacks, calls people a liar and has been generally rude... I am not providing you with resources because I am not going to spend the time to scan them, upload them to my server and then provide you with access to the work that I collected solely for myself. I am not interested in discussing anything with someone that has been rude to me and others. I am not interested in communicating with you. You have been disrespectful, and I will not engage in conversation of any type with someone like that... SO... belittling myself for that means little to me...
I AM DONE WITH YOU... Please get that through your head. From here on out, I will drive that home by responding to you (when ever you address me) with "Why are you still responding to me?"

Again, asking you to cite your sources, is not ad hom, nor is it calling someone a liar.
There's supposedly 2000 of them, and you can't even tell me a name or an organisation. That's fine if you don't, but that means your strange claims remain unsubstantiated.
Again, pointing out all the fallacies you've made, is not being rude and disrespectful. Yes you are ignoring what specialists are saying in favor of bias confirmation.
The part where you saying I'm being this and are like that, THAT is what ad hom is.

You receive a warning from a mod, then tell them, "thank you", ok.

Just lock it, you can't discuss things in here without someone going on an ad hom tirade, and accusing you of all sorts of drivel, rather than addressing any of my points.
*sigh*
Thread locked due to name-calling and bickering.
