A pattern may have been seen in my previous posts of disparaging love and partnership. This comes from jading experiences.
However, there was a guy who I had/have strong feelings for. I totally blew the relationship because I was too intense. And I haven't heard from him in over a year. He was/is someone I think I could form a mutually beneficial partnership with.
Well, he messaged me yesterday (even after I had unfriended him on FB.)
He didn't say much, the message was the contact itself. We exchanged a couple of texts and then nothing again.
I, of course, said too much, but am successfully resisting the urge to text him a novel in 5 parts. I hate that he can make me feel this dreadful hopefulness again.
What should I make of his contacting me after so long a time?

My approach, after such a long time of no-contact from him, would be to tell him to f*** off.

People who do this only do it out of curiosity (unless he's begging you and has actually changed), not because he's that interested. So I tell them to f*** off and never contact me again.

But then, I'm someone who would rather be alone than messed about.

He could be interested, but I suspect smudge is correct. Whatever you do, don't give away too much to this guy until you know what his intentions are.

Ask him why he didn't contact you for so long.

Yes. I have no idea of his motives. His message was an apology for lack of contact and I wondered if he is depressed and making amends. I hope this is not the case.

(BTW, this is not the married guy. I haven't heard from him and am now aware that he was using me.)

I just really like this guy.

I can't email him again. I'm already 2-1.

Does "2-1" mean that it's his turn to respond?

What does 2-1 mean then?

That's what it means. I just hate that my equilibrium has been disrupted.
