I have been feeling overstimulated a lot lately. I will jump and run around the house clapping and rocking until I can't breathe and I think it's because my Maladaptive Daydreaming/ "music stim" hasn't been working lately. This is due to the fact that I listen to the same songs over and over until I get sick of them. Then they will not work.

How do I stop feeling overstimulated? It feels like I have "ants in my pants"

If you think it's due to listening to the same song(s) on repeat.. stop doing that.

I truly wish you'd try college again. There are more and more online colleges.

When I feel like that, I find that proprioceptive input like a weighted blanket is beneficial. Have you tried anything like that?

I hated the weighted blanket as a kid. It made me have a huge meltdown and a panic attack. Felt like an elephant was sitting on me, trying to suffocate me.

I'm the same way. I can't wear turtlenecks, either. They give me a choking sensation.

I always find once I over play a song I typically just find a new one to over play.. but I'm confused because the lack of a music stim would cause under stimulation, not over, I would think. Or maybe I'm just tired and can't think. :|

*sleeps*

Sedating medications like Klonopin or antidepressants or antipsychotics helped me in the past with feeling overstimulated.

I hate benzos and sedation meds. They make me sleep too much. Like 15 hours a day too much. Yet, when I got a 5 or 10mg Ativan shot in the hospital, it took me 7 hours to fall asleep. It was a nightmare.

Long walks or similar mild aerobic exercise works for me when I feel like that - usually calms me right down.
