Just wondering who is the main WP voting base by party here. What are your most important positions regarding social and government issues?

I have voted for president once in my life, for republican candidate Mitt Romney in 2012. I was very disappointed he was not elected president.

I consider my beliefs to be a mash of fiscal conservatism, social conservatism, and libertarianism, but I don't agree with all the priciples of all three.

I don't identify as any party, I will vote for the most qualified candidates that most closely match my views whatever party that may be.

No affiliation. I refuse to vote. I would vote if there was a binding "None of the Above" option on the ballot, such that if the majority chose that option, another election with different candidates would be mandated (preferably with the special election also automatically voting on whether or not to abolish the office(s) in question).

Or in other words, I would vote if the voters were provided with an option to de-legitimize the state via their vote. Obviously that's never going to happen, and in fact any vote strengthens the state's claim to legitimacy. So I side with the vast majority of the electorate by not bothering to participate in the farce.

Republican although if I find an independent candidate more conservative I vote for them instead. I am deeply conservative socially and fiscally with libertarian lean on some foreign policy issues.

I vote for the lesser evil. I'm not so optimistic as to use the term "best". Best candidate is like saying best turd. Most politicians are self centered crooks and deserve to be bayoneted. I typically vote republican but I've voted for a few democrats for local offices because in those cases they were the lesser evil.

I vote mostly for Libertarian Party candidates though I amn't a party member. I was a Democrat for 22 years, and have been unaffiliated for the last 11 years. I vote "no" (or not at all) against all judges and other candidates who have no opponents (elections shouldn't be turned into plebiscites), I vote "none of the above" when I must. I don't abide "the lesser of two evils." My vote is serious business and I don't use it to join any "winners."

There is still a relationship between the electorate and the politicians though. The electorate cannot wash their hands of that personalities that succeed in politics. In many respect is a reflection of our nature.

You could say the electorate are in part complicit in their own deception, and also quite often have unrealistic expectations.

I think that is a good subject for a discussion "Is the electorate as a whole inherently better than the politicians they elect?"

Despite my disillusionment with Republicans and Democrats, I still vote for the Democrats. However, most Republicans and Democrats serving now are nothing more than whiny little morons who think of themselves as higher than everyone else.

I vote Democrat, because I'm a godless liberal.
Actually, I'd cast a vote for one of the socialist parties if any of them ever had a chance of winning.

Few of the truly good people within the electorate will stoop to running for office. Those who do and actually win a seat are corrupted sooner or later.

Fundies and holy rollers are against drinking, and they usually vote conservative.

well most conservatives like to drink so who cares how those people think o.O

drinking was tried to ban once and failed so its pretty much safe, don't see anyone trying that again. for time being until dems get most or all guns banned they will only continue to ver limited attack hunting. even strong dems fish so thats pretty safe.

so we vote for pro gun people or atleast those smart enough to leave the issue alone.

I am not affiliated with any party...and have not voted for a president, I planned to back in 2008, was going to vote for Obama because he seemed like the best one with any chance but once I got to the polls I concluded it didn't feel right so I didn't vote for that part........I voted for the state issues, and a couple state politicians, since then I usually more vote on issues with the occasional politician here and there if I think there's a chance they'd make some kind of positive difference.

I suppose most people might describe me as being rather liberal...to be specific though I'd say I support things like a social safety network and programs/resources being used to help the citizens live the healthiest most fullfilling lives they can...but I also think personal freedom and rights are just as important. Some so called left leaning politicians seem to suggest to have the stable sense of community or a government that 'helps' the people at all you have to give up personal freedoms which I certainly do not agree with. The conservatives seem to want to restrict personal freedom too on a lot of levels that go beyond discouraging actually harmful behavior that hurts people, and also have less government funding going into programs/resources for the general public as well as poor or disabled citizens.

IDK its like both sides are using different arguments to convince the public to be more willing to give up personal rights/freedoms, and of course I don't know of any particular third parties that accurately represent my political opinions either.

Fundies and holy rollers in fact dominate conservative politics, especially in the Bible belt. The Republican party had garnered their support as foot soldiers, only to have them become generals of the party.
