The latest news is the American and Canadian petfood that contained rat poison may have been tampered with intentionally since China has been trying to eradicate pets in its own land.

There's no proof of deliberate contamination :?

Aspies don't let their Aspies read World Net Daily :D Besides that was an opinion piece. Pure hysterical speculation. I'm sure it has more to do with Canadian cheap bastards hiring American cheap bastards to manufacture food with ingredients exported from Chinese cheap bastards. International miserliness and greed combine to kill "man's best friend".

It could be true though. What's to stop a Chinese radical group that hates dogs to try something like this if they also want to get back at Americans? Americans aren't exactly loved in much of the world these days. I didn't vote for HIM by the way. Considering how the Chinese killed all pets in their own country why is it so hard to believe they wouldn't try it elsewhere? Considering businessmen thrive by being cheap bastards at the expense of consumers it would be easy to taint pet food slop anyway. There's little quality control.

I read an article that said it was a 'drug' once used to fight cancer, now banned in the USA. Supposedly the Chinese wheat they used for gluten in the pet food had a small trace amount on it. Speculation was that the wheat was treated with it as a rat poison.

It's possible but it's still foolish to read an opinion piece and call it news. If society accepts mass killings of pets and feral animals, then I don't see the point in covertly sabotaging a food supply meant for export. It just doesn't make any strategic sense.

No, of course not. Weekly World News is so much more informative: they have pictures of heaven this week!

But, in all reality, I think this article is disgusting. It's yellow journalism, which never helps, and pointing fingers like a racist moron will not solve any problems.

Anybody knowledgeable about Chinese quality control knows its an abomination. It required no evil plot to get rat poison mixed with wheat. Its used in warehouse that store grain and it got spilled and mixed simple as that.

Couldn't read the article, but sounds like sensationalist paranoia to me.
What would the Chinese have to gain by killing our pets?

Also, rats themselves can get mixed into the mower which goes through fields. If the rat consumed any poison recently, that goes in too.

One of my cats died by eating a poisoned rat.

... but would that be enough poison to kill so many pets?
