Are there any high schoolers here going to the prom? I'm not sure if I am or not since I still have to find a date and all (shouldn't be too hard), but I am getting my dress today! I'll post a picture of me in it once I get it. And since my mom missed out on her senior prom, she really wants me to be able to experience it. Hey, I'm not complaining! So if your school is having a prom, are you going?

I went to prom. Without a date. Left after 30 minutes.

I hope it's better for you. I'm sure it will be, I saw your picture, guys will ask you out. Good luck!

chickened out. Had a great time. First time that I danced.

I did not go to my prom. I didn't have a date, and I most the school bullies were going to be there, so it was better for me not to go anyway. Also, the cost of prom was outrageous at my high school, at least for the guy. Consider this cost breakdown (rounded to make the math easier).

Tickets for two: $300
Limo rental: $280
Dinner: $120
Tux rental: $150
Corsage: $25
Flowers: $25
Total: $600

So basically, I'd be paying $600 to dance in a hotel conference room, at an event where at least 25% of the people hate my guts. (My high school rented a conference room at a hotel downtown, as opposed to simply decorating the gym.)

I never went. It's pointless to go alone.

 I didn't get the dress. Mom thought it was too short, like everything else I own. But then when I showed her the dresses in Juniors size, she realized that there's no way I could fit into them (I'm not quite "filled out" enough, I'm too short since most are taller than I am, and it's going to be hard to find a size 0, which is still a bit big for me anyway. We're going to try to make it over to Saks Fifth Avenue this month, since we remembered seeing really nice dresses there that would be small enough for me. Plus they're designer! Now all I have to do is find a date. Of course it's going to be a bit hard this week since it's spring break and all. lol

I think "the prom" is one of those things that only has value to NT people. If your not part of that group, or are friends with a lot of people there, there's not really a point to going. The prom is basically making a huge deal out of nothing.

People tell me I should go because it'd be awsome but I completely disagree.

Lightning88, even though I'm in college in now, I went to prom my junior year and senior year. Both times I went a lone but I had a blast!! !! My senior year, a friend of the family did my make-up and drove to prom!! ! I had fun because I could hang out with any group I wanted and enjoyed dancing. I can say that I had more fun at both proms than some of my friends who had boyfriend troubles during the dance. So overall, I'm glad I went.

I'm not going to prom...I don't even go to an actual high school anymore,AND I'm going to college this fall.

I'd doubt I'd go even if I WAS asked.

I don't think it matters if you have a date or not, you just need to have a group of friends to go with.

My old high school had a leaving prom.

Asked a girl I had a crush on over MSN in a joking manner, rejected. I didn't want to go to the stupid prom anyway. I would have freaked out. I can't stand large, loud groups of people, I was unpopular, and it was pointless. What the heck does a prom achieve? It's much more of an NT thing I guess. "Look at me, I can dance to random music in front of loads of other people, and socialise while I'm at it!"
About as much point as going to a night club.

Video games>Proms

I was having fun on games whilst everyone else was dancing and attempting to talk amidst blaring, loud music that they don't neccessarily like, activities I don't regard as fun.
