I'm having a weekend away without the kids or husband!

I'm at my parents place and they're waiting on me hand and foot.

I am sitting at the computer eating pretzels, chocolate and nuts.

I slept 12 hours last night and plan on having a daytime nap.

My husband says I should do this 1 weekend per month. Sounds good to me!

No cooking! No 'Mum, Mum, Muuuuuuum, Muuuuuuuuum' x 10000.

Bliss!

Wow that is great!

My mother once checked into a hotel for a weekend because we kids where driving her to the looney bin! If DH is up to you being away a weekend a month I think you should run with it!

I got out for a couple hours today without the kids and it was great! I was trying to talk to my older sister on the phone this morning and it was nuts, I ended up locking myself in the bathroom just to hear her, and he beat on the door every 3 minutes with his MUM MUM MUM!! ! :)

Good for you!

I'm having a weekend away from my husband and my 16 yr.old. I had to take the other 3 with me, though. At least I still have WP!

Enjoy your weekend and say "hi" to your mom from me!

Wow, sounds like you're having a fun time. But to me personally, staying at my parents' is anything but an escape. I fight with them all the time, and I avoid the possibility by being at home as little as possible. Due to my parents' strict parenting style, I was never able to establish a close relationship with them, and now at age 24, it's too late (and it seems like they're starting to understand it too). But you're getting along with your parents nicely, I'm very happy for you.

Nothing at 24 is too late, it may take a few years, but there is no way of knowing what the future brings. I am sure they love you, they just did not know what to do with you!

I have found that some distance with my mother (being 2 full provinces over) has helped a lot. We have a good phone relationship now, and can survive a 2 week visit. I would not say that is "close" but we get along a lot better then we used to for sure!

Mind you, it took me getting to 30 years of age for this to happen! :P
