Also, for those who like a G&T, with a slice, and like to eat the lemon - beware. The pips in a lemon are poisonous. Do not eat too many, at one sitting. IIRC, a bucketful will kill you.

Thats a lot of lemon!

I always eat lemon slices whole if they come with a drink and I haven't come to much harm from it (yet!)

A home grown vine ripen tomato sliced with salt is wonderful :) I like to grow basil to go with my tomatoes.

yes, they're nothing like store-bought ones. I'd grow some if I had a garden.

Most commercial tomatoes are forced ripened using ethylene gas and/or are pumped full of water to make them larger and round. They are not even grown in proper soil. The turn over is phenomenal, this is the legacy of over consumption/production.

The best tomatoes are grown in s**t. The more nutrients it has the better. Roundness is not necessarily an indicator of taste neither is colour. There are varieties that are yellow or green. Often near sewage treatment plants tomatoes plants grow because seed are not always digested and the soil is great.

You can get Kanker Sores if you eat too many tomatoes.
