Trolls. They're at it again. I only learnt the word recently, here, on this forum. And I naively stumble into their traps every time. Of course, I can work it out after a few minutes, or when someone points it out. But my initial reaction is to either try and help them, or to feel unbelievably sad and mad that anyone would or could conceive of doing such a thing.

You've noticed a sleuth of new trolls right now, or you've noticed that I fall pray to their antics ;)

Bottom line: It really upsets me. I can personally try to avoid it, that's one strategy (and not one I do well because I don't recognise it for what it is very easily. Then it upsets me to think other readers might be hurt by trolling. So I start feeling protective of all who might not be aware. Is there any way to prevent these people from posting? To block their accounts?

I've snapped at more than one troll, I'm really not in the mood for them right now.

Someone who joins a sight just to annoy others, posting useless or rude responses and threads.

Well, there's a paranoid conspiracy theorist who showed up recently, but I think he actually believes the nonsense he's been posting. I've haven't noticed any real trolls, at least not in this forum (I don't read the other ones).

Never mind- I was apparently behind on the times. I just checked out a couple of the recent posts. I see what you mean.

Ah, well. I'll just repeat what my mom always says, "This too shall pass." Trolls tend to have short attention spans.
