I used to collect combs. A lot of them too... also the dinosaur items, including books and plushies! Now, my collection mainly centers around acqusition of technological knowledge & information but I am open to learning many types of things.

good question!
Ok, I had meticulously stacked comic books.. eventually weeded it down to Marvel and gave away the DC.. wish I had kept the Mad Mags and archies etc. tho! shoplifted some sadly, moral compass iffy.. got better tho!
Now I have those weeded down comics put away.. original Xmen, sold the early new Xmen for 40$ or so for bucks in mid 80s, was broke.. but have most of the rest. In boxes for whenever.

Now I have hundreds of sci fi and other books.. some are antiques from the 1800's, nice to turn lots of cheap books into a few nice ones.. like first edition mark twain etc. Now that I am married theya re on shelves in the basement, but I do have selection up here in our living room.

1. Old sound equipment. I have a big closet full of old sound stuff, an ancient Gibson guitar amp head, a Crate Guitar Amp (I don't own an electric guitar  ), and a lot of old speakers:

A pair of 30 year old ElectroVoice Sentury IV-Bs

A pair of Sansui SP-2000s from the 80s

And a pair of JVC SK-S44s (what I have in my system currently. A pair of them sold on eBay for just $50. That is a HELL of a good deal!):

2. Old Books: I don't have anything of particular value but I like my book collection. I love reading from good quality hard backs with nice paper. It adds tactile and visual pleasure to the words themselves (sometimes they even smell good). I also rarely sell back my school books particularly the philosophy ones.

3. Good Alcohol. Right now this collection is fairly pathetic for two reasons: I'm poor and not quite 21. Once I can afford to, I'll start collecting good wines for a start. I also love a good single malt scotch or whiskey. I'd love to have the ingredients to make a large variety of mixed drinks. Right now the only drinks I have ingredients for are Manhattans (2 shots blended whiskey, 1 shot sweet vermouth, 3 drops bitters, 3 cherries, and a few spoonfulls of cherry juice), vodka and gin martinis, and gin and tonic.

I had a very peculiar collection when I was about 6 or 7. I used to collect broken pencil leads. I can't remember how that got started but I assume I had a few at the bottom of my pencil case and it just went from there. Bizarrely, the other kids in my class started to collect them for me and I had thousands in a tin! Some people would purposely sharpen their pencils too much so that the end broke off. My favourite ones were the pencils with the four different colours. I eventually threw out my pencil leads but it was really hard!

I've also collected stamps, gemstones, porcelain dolls, elvis memorabilia, lighters, tin toys and pottery pigs (actually started by my nana). I decided a few years ago that I was wasting an awful lot of money so now the only way I can add to any of my collections (only have the tin toys, lighters and elvis stuff left) is if somebody buys me something for my birthday or christmas.

Something else that I do is "collect" money. It's odd because I hate spending money and I'm not in the least bit materialistic but I love collecting money and seeing my bank balance go up. I can justify it at the moment by saying I'm saving for a deposit on a house but when the time comes to actually buy it I don't know what I'll do! I guess there's always my neopoints. I'm even tight with virtual money. :-)

Every time he played he had to bring home more golf balls than shots he made. Shooting in the 70's twice a week brought 140 golf balls a week. Then they were all meticulously cleaned and sorted and stored in the garage. This activity took over my potting bench which left me no where to work and the hot tub is no longer usable because it takes too long to get to it. Also all the broken telephones, computer monitors, computers and boxes that the TVs came in. Three desks and a pool table covered with stuff so no one else could find anything. Old furniture...I could so go on but as said before this is an old thread and one that should not be a surprise to any aspie. By the way he now has all the space he wants to store whatever. I left.

Empties....I can't seem to get around to turning them in.
They're my retirement fund now, I suppose...
