Absolutely; serveral hours a day, usually. I do this in two general circumstances.

First is if I find a new song I really like; I will listen to it over and over again, dozens of times in a row, and love every moment of it. Last song I recall doing this for was Faint / Linkin Park.

Second is of a particular song elicits a certain emotional response in me, and I want to ride on it; sadness, regret, pain, anger, love, nostalgia, the thrill of battle, thinking of someone. Last song I recall doing this for was Mail Order Mystics / John Mayal.

In a similar sense, I do something like this with particular albums; The Wall, Powerslave, the Downward Spiral; albums tell stories to me, and I like to hear the story over and over again sometimes. I use short custom playlists for similar purposes, listen to small sets of song that have a certain theme or elicit a certain feeling.

Hmm. In the ala carte workings of today, I suppose the notion of an album is on the road to deprecation. Can you imagine The Wall without it being an album?

Good fortune,

I moved cross country in May of 2002

On my drive I stuck Dido No Angel in the cd and kept it on low the whole way...

After I moved in and was settled I would often take my then 16 yo niece out and let her practice driving in my car. She would often say " you listen to that cd ALOT!"... she just got in the habit of changing to a radio station she liked.

New years eve I was driving same niece to a party and she ... instead of changing to a radio station... EJECTED THE CD!! !!

I havent wanted to hear it since.

So...8 months...?

I do this a lot. One CD for months. Didn't think it was a problem or even unusual.

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

I do this. And then, I get tired of the song and won't listen to it for a long time. I recently purchased an album of one song, by the group Trentemoller, called "Moan." It's like listening to the same song over and over, but with variations.

Not only do I like to repeat-1 a bunch of the time, I might even just loop-repeat a certain part of a song, even if the loop is just for 10 seconds. :) The former occurs more often, though.

Yes i sometimes loop a certain segment... but repeat-1 happens 90% of the time!

i do this all the time. One of the things i hate about my new MP3 player is that there is no repeat 1, i have to make a playlist of 1 and use that.

When I first listen to a song, I use repeat-1 to get it completely memorized. I'll do this for each track in the album (often jumping around the album) until I've memorized the entire album...

I love how the majority of us use single repeat, it makes me feel so much better. I played a song twice within the space of a few hours around someone else; they had some kind of bizarre fit and said they couldn't stand to hear the same song more than once. This guy was a music literature minor at university, so his comment was utterly beyond my ability to understand.

I don't have many songs with lyrics, but I've often listened to those that do for weeks on end (I love Nina Simone). I have no idea what they are saying--I'm just singing along with the phonemes. The type of synesthesia I have makes music such a visual experience, listening to the same song over and over again is like what I imagine watching time-lapse photography of a supernova on loop might be: completely euphoric, when it's right.
