In 2000 the press said that McCain was the most fun to be on the campaign trail with. They said he wasn't careful. He said whatever he felt like and the press liked him for being genuine.

Bush's people made calls during the campaign "polling" people, asking them "Would they vote for McCain if they knew he fathered a black child?" Amazing how McCain doesn't seem to resent Bush for that trashy behavior.

The candidate I originally supported, Giuliani, dropped out, so I was faced with few options. I don't like McCain or Ron Paul. McCain is so far to the left that it would be like voting for Hillary or Obama. Ron Paul's supporters in my town are made up of chronically disaffected people and aging anti-Vietnam war protesters. I chose Romney, because he is the most conservative candidate left in the race. The only thing that went right was the vote on the propositions. The ones I favored won; the ones I disagreed with were defeated.

The minute Guiliani announced he was running, my wife said forget it. He'll never win. Even when he was considered a frontrunner. She said, "Women in this country will never vote for a man who moved his mistress into the Mayor's mansion when his wife and kids were still living there." She felt it didn't matter where he stood on issues, he would never get the female vote.

McCain, I hate that he's so freakin liberal. He needs a lobotomy on immigration, Iraq, taxes. Pisses me off he wants to raise taxes for upper class people, while supporting welfare programs for immigrants. What country is this? He's treating people here illegally better than our own.

Obama, lacks experience, but with the right crew, could do wonders. The one thing he's got that Hillary doesn't is the ability to be non-partisan. Him being biracial is an asset I think. He can understand what Blacks want and what the majority of the country needs. A Clinton/Obama ticket would be unbeatable. I'm saying that as a Conservative. If they ran together, no Republican could compete.

Hillary, well. What can I say? Partisan, partisan, partisan. Not a team player, head stuck up her butt, bad news. But, this is what Democrats want, hey? If her husband had been doing his job, 9/11 wouldn't have happened. Sure, blame Bush. The stock market crashed on his watch, too. But, blame Bush. Everytime I hear her blame Bush for things her husband failed to do it makes my ass twitch. But, this is what the country wants I guess.

I wish there were more choices, but this is it, folks. It'll be an interesting race. I'm still American and can live with the results, no matter what. I may not like it, but I can live with it.

I support Barack Obama 100%! :D

But this would not matter either way because the US may have its first black president
or its first female president! :D

John McCain may take on Mitt Romney or Mike Huckabee as his running mate!
What do you think abou that, Republican Wrong Planeters?!

Personally, I just love the fact that Ron Paul refuses to give up despite all the odds. I swear, even when the election is over that man will still be going. Except he'll be leading a coup at that point.

Do you think Ron Paul may run as a third-party candidate?

If Obama gets elected, I think I'll get more politically involved in community organizing. He keeps saying change comes from the bottom up, not the top down and maybe with his influence it will inspire more people to come together and work together to make things better.

All I care about anymore is better community for my autism spectrum kids. So much potencial is spectrum people, and it's going to waste because they are not embraced for who they are.

RP won't go independent. At most - when the election is over, there may be a few maverick RP supporters who try to protest and start something. There will certainly be a lot of discontent amongst Americans if McCain gets elected.

If anyone other than Obama is chosen, I'll probably lose my last bit of faith in the system. I have more interest in something like the Vermont secessionist movement for example (even though many consider it a joke, including myself) - it's more fun than mainstream American politics at least. Honestly, I'm drawn to Vermont (and New England in general) for reasons other than independent ideologies though - Camping, skiing, art/music communities, historic towns (protected from urban commercialism) holiday events, academic populations, and the natural beauty of the mountains and forests. I'm planning to visit sometime this summer to find out the real scoop on Vermont.

Syd, your post drove me to join the Obama campaign. I think that Hillary will get the nomination but when the Obama see that all hope is gone for a good president, maybe they'll organize on a local level and that's what we would need more than ever with the choices for president.
