My son was born on time and with about an 8 hour labor. He was also coming out before the midwife could get to the room. LOL

Me on the other hand. I was born early and weighed a little over 5 pounds.

My son was born, C-section, while I was apparently going into anaphylactic shock -- an allergic reaction to the pitosin. The docs did the whole "tip the body so that the head is below the feet" thing, during which time I was feeling like there was an anvil on my chest, but I was trying to be the "good" patient and not complain. Crazy. Didn't see my son for more than a brief moment, after which they wheeled me into another room and threw warm blankets on me for two hours before I got over the uncontrollable shaking that I'm guessing was due to shock.

Poor little guy -- who know's what he was going through! He seemed pretty tough, though -- he was about 10 lbs!

So, yes, this was a somewhat difficult birth.

Kris

Pregnancy, labor & delivery were all perfect for my son. It could not have been any easier.

Mine was an easy birth, a planned Caesarean, so I was gently lifted out without labor ever even beginning.

However, I was born to a mother with really remarkable Aspie traits. In my family, it seems tied to genetics, not birth trauma.

Yes.

Three months premature, weighed 3 lbs 5 oz and spent my first few weeks in an incubator.

Not sure if my birth was traumatic or not, but I know I got pneumonia almost as soon as I was born.

My son had to be taken via emergency c-section, as he was breech and premature. When he was born, he was jaundiced, and wouldn't eat or even wake up to eat-we had to force him to. He also had spinal menengitis (strep B, I believe) before the age of 3 months old. He has been diagnosed with AS.

My daughter was also breech and premature, but had lots less problems than my son. She exhibits some traits-I'm still going to get her assessed just to make sure, but for the most part, despite a bit of toe walking and hand flapping, delayed talking/potty training, she is EXTREMELY social, very outspoken, and extremely independent at 3, lol.

What's a DD?

curious as well. I've seen GFG (gift from God, I think it means) used a lot on some other parenting forums, but never dd.

My birth was normal but my mother likes saying that in the very end when I was being born and there were some problems because I couldn't go out from mom's womb, the nurse pushed me out from it jumping on her stomach.

I had actually. Green amniotic fluid. I remember reading it as a teenager and thought it was quite embarrassing for some time. The kind of thing you think as a teenager.
The Apgar score was perfect 9/10/10 though, so after the doctors had marked it down as a problematic birth, they changed it afterwards. They weren't very decisive about it, I still have the papers and at the questions 'problematic?' both 'yes' and 'no' are marked.

actually i was the least eventful of my parents kids. Brother had cord around his neck, sister cut of circulation by pinching cord b/w foot and wall. all 3 of us by c section. Sister wanted out earlyer and got born a week early. Caused me and my brother to miss Sesame Street on Ice :( .

and i think DD means dear daughter. DS = dear son, DH = dear hubby.... etc

my AS son had the salad tongs and his heart rate dropped to frighteningly low levels during labor.

I've never heard of that before! I have a huge head too! I was told it was called the Dutch squarehead. It's larger than most men's heads (but I'm 5'10"...so I'm taller than the average guy as well).

My birth was normal, but my mom did get toxemia in her last stage of pregnancy with me. The doctor told her that I was effected, but she never asked what that meant. My dad's side of the family has a lot of of neuro-probs. His sister had cerebral palsy, brother is an Aspie, rest of his family quite rigid, opinionated, intelligent and anti-social (with the exception of my dad): my mom's side has depression and addiction probs. So, I think I'm an Aspie due to my chaotic gene pool.

My birth took a long time (14 hours), but it was easy.

My mother had something like a 24 hour labor with me and then I was finally born with forceps. I have a dent on my forehead from it.

C-section birth.
And based on what I was told by my mother, I apparently experienced some kind of "shock" shortly before being born, which caused me to defecate while in the womb. The doctor was initially worried that I might have accidentally ingested feces, which perhaps would have led to some kind of brain damage/trauma.

At the age of 7 months, I was taken to see a specialist, who determined that I didn't have any kind of brain damage/trauma.
