Ego is one of those emotions I pretty much killed off years ago. I was told I was smart and stupid from a variety of different people my whole life. My first impression was always one of idiocy for a long time, and until you scratched the surface that seems true. I've since fixed that, but I still don't think too highly of myself.

My very small ego was crushed when I dropped out of sixth form in 2001. It's never fully recovered.

How do you know?

As you get older, your problems get automatically prioritized differently, so I've read, especially amongst the AS.

Even if you aren't AS, not that I'm saying that you aren't, because that's not my profession, you will see things in a different light.

What if my problems get prioritized in such a way that worse problems end up first in the queue? What if I start seeing things in a different, more negative light? How will my life get better in that case?

Well, tell me why they could get worse?
How much integrity do you have at the moment?
You have a place to live?
You have a lover?
Do you have spirituality?
etc..

I have no guarantee they will get worse, just like I have no guarantee they will get better.

I like to think I have a healthy amount of integrity.

Not indefinitely.

I've never had a lover.

I have no intergrity, as I'm a spoiled brat
I do have a place to live, but I don't at my father's, which upsets me
Let's not talk about my horrid love life.
I don't have spirituality.
I basically suck.

Take it one day at a time.
Improve one thing about yourself/or make a step to improve your
esteem.

Yes you can, it takes a while, but the results will come.
Become an existentialist, don't let anyone tell you what you'll become.

I used to be self-defeatist.
I used to think that being a realist was where it's at.
But truly, that's not really pragmatic.
Optimism surely can be blind,
Idealism can be fine;
best to take it all in moderation!
