I am going to my senior prom with my closest friend, I never really enjoy it becuase I am not into loud music and dancing. I like to stand around and talk to my best friend but she always wants to mingle. Guys- Doesnt happen for me.

I'm going to prom on Saturday... I like the dress (shiny things; I'm like a magpie sometimes), and I like dancing, so we'll see. The girl whom I had originally planned on sticking with (we get on well) has a concert in another state, and the others who I get along with well are going to a country music concert. *shrug* There are a couple of people I can probably hang out with; it's a mix of juniors and seniors. We shall see.

I'd go, but I haven't anyone to go with. I wouldn't enjoy myself. Plus, the theme for this year's school prom is "A red carpet dream" it sounds incredibly cheesey.

I'm just not very comfortable in a party environment.

My senior prom's theme is "The Roaring 1920s",
so does anyone know where I can find a cheap vintage suit? :?

I don't no if I'll go next year to the ball (NZ equivilant to the prom). I could've volunteered to be a waitress for this year's ball but I don't like running around the place.

I would suggest trying a thrift shop. They usually have a ton of old stuff.

On a related note to this thread, eep. Don't ever ask your hairdresser for advice on what you should do with your hair, much less give them free will. I look like a bloody poodle at the moment.

I want to wear a beautiful gown and pretend I'm normal for just one night.

On a few conditions.

1) I had someone I loved to go with.

2) It wouldn't be full of people I hate.

3) I liked the music.

I skipped my high school prom because I knew there'd be people and music I HATED there, and because I had no one to go with. I didn't want to spend 80 bucks sitting by the punch bowl looking depressed and staring at the few girls I did like dance with their bois, feeling all angst-ridden and s**t.

I think they are a royal waste of time and money. I shall not be going to mine.

I dropped out of high school too early to attend prom.
Sometimes I daydream about what it may have been like...
I don't think I missed out on too much.

I think they're pointless, because it would be boring, wasteful and pretty depressing, as I wouldn't really have anyone to go with.
The idea of drinking and dancing is far below my standard and I would not be missing out on anything. I've got my exams to worry about anyway, which are in 4 weeks time.

didn't go to the prom. The only reason I would've gone is if the school newspaper wanted me to do a piece. They asked someone else instead.
Instead a few of my friends met at a friends house we played Risk and listened to Muse's "Black Holes & Revelations" until 4AM.

I remember my brothers going to their high school proms and couldn't see what all the fuss was about. It seemed like a big social chore. People make it out to be so much fun but I would be expected to wear a dress. I NEVER have fun if I am forced to wear a dress. If I ever get married I am wearing my usual clothes. People get so anxious for nothing and anxious people are no fun to interact with. I was taken out of public school to be homeschooled in firth grade and not being able to go to a prom did not bother me. I don't think I would have a date to go with. The only guy I was ever intrested in romanticaly lives on the other side of the world and is like fifteen years older than me and dosen't even know I like him. I don't think he would come over all the way from South Africa just to go to a prom with a teenager who has a school girl crush on him.
