12 Ways to Annoy Your Asperger’s / Autistic Pal

18 April 2008 at 5:17 (Autism/Asperger's, Humor/ Fun Stuff)

(Not in order of importance.)

1. Make chit-chat about events in the news related to sports, celebrities or other obscure pop-culture subjects before the first cup of tea or coffee.

2. Insist on eating out at Chuck-E-Cheese or a similar place full of flashing lights, competing noises, and crowds of loud, shrieking children running around.

3. Serve them a meal composed entirely of new, unfamiliar dishes.

4. “Hey– hey– space cadet — snap out of it!”

5. Schedule a trip with social events all day and evening long.

6. Announce that anyone who can’t tolerate certain kinds of fabric or clothing styles is just being picky

9. Install a major software update (or change other settings on their computer software) because you think it will “make their life easier”.

10. Give them a surprise birthday party after a long day at work (school).

7. Put things out of order.

11. Dismiss their special interest as being stupid.

12. Deprive them of internet access.

Wow. I thought 4 was bad until I saw "21 Comments" and didn't know whether A: twenty-one comments are expected to be posted, or B: you switched 12 around added "Comments" to be purposely ambiguous. Aaaargh!

These ones wouldn't annoy me.

But, haha. :)

11. Dismiss their special interest as being stupid.

That would be a great way for someone to tick me off.

15. Interrupt them when they’re trying to say something.

14. Invite them to a social occasion at the last minute and insist that they come.

16. Pepper them with boring small-talk questions when they’re reading about a special interest – and then get very upset when they don’t immediately drop their train of thought to answer you.

13. Give them some extra vague instructions and then act impatient when they ask for clarification

(my mom used to do #13 to me all the time – she would tell me to get something “from the cupboard” without specifying which cupboard, as if I’m supposed to know exactly which cupboard she keeps everything in).

I thought this was possibly going to be lame, but each one of those things individually would infuriate me - the entire list unleashed on me at one time would destroy my life!

Especially depriving me of the Internet, I mean, that is not even funny :x

Ask your friend 20 questions at once and not give them a chance to answer the first one.

Heh. These are good.

17. Say "Yoo-hoo, I'm up here!" whenever their eye contact falters.

18. Start talking about what Jenny-Mac said on the news.

19. Take them to a metal concert and push them into the mosh pit.
