Just checking to make sure I'm understanding the abbreviation right... AS = Asperger's syndrome?

Yes.

AS = Asperger's Syndrome.

Which is the name for it internationally/in the ICD.

Though some weird studies that take the DSM-IV-TR into consideration use abbreviations such as:

AD = Asperger's Disorder (easily confused with the more common AD = Autistic Disorder)

or ASD = Asperger's Disorder (easily confused with the more common ASD = autism spectrum disorder)

Occasionally AS will also be used for "Autism Speaks". However you can always tell the difference through context in these cases.
